Torque app and 2014

Just hooked up my bt adapter to my 2014 4 runner and all my settings for the 2012 Tacoma transmission pids carried over and work to read the transmission pan and converter temps.

Screenshots attached of what the odb-ii reader can see to read and of the app running.

I'm going to order one. I've got a older scan gaugeII, but it won't monitor trans temps unless I send it in for an update. This looks like it would do the trick. Should also be good when it comes time to change trans fluid to get the fill level correct.
 
as far as you know, this is a read-only tool and will never or has not been known in the past to mess up the vehicle electronics and sensors ?? thanks

It can clear some certain codes, (CEL and such) but I've never actually heard it messing anything up unless there's already something wrong with the car. It's by far one of the best apps I have on my phone, worth every penny.
 
One of the features I like about Torque is the ability to set warnings and the ability to log data. Fox example, you can setup a Transmission temp warning at 250 degrees, and Torque will alert you when that threshold is reached. That way, you don't necessarily have to keep and eagle eye on it during towing or trail runs.

Logging data is also nice to nerd out to. I logged my trip yesterday to see family in the 4Runner. Logged my trip to work today in my Accord. First 5 miles is the exact same.

Last chart is just the 4runner and shows the the torque converter temp compared to the pan temp when it unlocks on 2 lane roads mixed with traffic.

dang the accord TT is all over the place. opps, didnt read the chart correctly. its pan temp and converter outlet temp.
 
Wasn't written too clearly! Edited the post to make it cleaner.

The '06 Accord doesn't have any extended PIDs, so I don't get any of the 'good' PIDs like trans temp, ABS wheel speed, etc. Also, the protocol it uses is quite slow. ~6-8 PID/sec.

The 4Runner (at least 2010+) is much faster. I get ~65 PID/sec on my OBD MX tool. ~25 PID/sec or so on my OBDlink adapter.

PID Values for trans temp

Ok, Just got my adapter in and the Torque pro downloaded. Does anyone have the PID settings for the pan and convertor temp settings?
I found these settings, is this what you guy's used on yours? Thanks.

I have an 3 way OBDII splitter and run the Scangauge II and the bluetooth for Torque at the same time. I wish some software guru would get the PID's for the real time tire air pressures as I know they are stored in the ECU as I can pull them up with my Techstream.

I was thinking the same thing this week. It looks like Toyota uses an oddball protocol (KWP, 9600 baud) for the TPMS. I'm surprised the Prius peoples haven't figured it out.

Got the trans temp in and out working fine.

The average mileage figure is GROSSLY inaccurate though :( Both with the "Use GPS to calculate distance" on and off.

I know I am getting around 18.5-19, but the app is telling me 26-28. (I wish!!!)

Anyway...

1) Does anyone have info on a proper mileage multiplier to use that works for the 4runner?

2) Does anyone know the actual protocol used with the 4runner? I'm currently set on "auto" but it takes time to go through them all, selecting the right one in the car profile would go much faster...

Ok I may have found an explanation for why the MPGs are so far off. I have the UI set to MPH but the OBD value is in KM/Hr (Can't change the UI? that's not very helpful)

Anyway, it turns out that my mileage is high by the /exact/ ratio of one mile to one kilometer. Meaning the value of 26-28 is not in MPH but actually KmPH (Even though my settings are for MPH and the guage shows "mpg"). Going to try to set the mph multiplier to 0.62 (The km to mi ratio) and see if that fixes it.

Awesome thanks. I found the "enhanced MPG calculation" setting tonight, will give that a go tomorrow :)
 
First off, thanks to all who have participated in this thread.

If the average mileage is inaccurate, how would one know the trans temp was accurate?

The trans temp is a straight read from the CAN bus after requesting it. The MPG is a calculation based on injector duty cycle/pulse width/# cy/rpm.... and a few other minor things depending on the app. It needs to understand the injector flow rating and the actual fuel pressure to come up with accurate MPG from that data. That is where the multiplier comes in.
