Touch Up Paint

The first scratch is always the worst. I bought a paint pen from the dealer when i had my 4th Gen 4runner - it was not a Toyota part - just some paint mfg that made them for Toyota paint colors and it never matched up very well.

I bought this pen off of E-bay... he has very good feedback and the pen is great. It is dual sided - I have the Blizzard Pearl color (not sure if all are dual sided or just the pearl/metallic colors - I assume just these) and it worked very well and came with detailed instructions from the seller and on the pen itself.

The kicker is that it is not sold in the US per the seller (not sure if this is true but i checked a couple dealers and they did not have it). The pen itself said is was made in Canada and says Toyota Canada Inc on it so it might be something they sell there.

Bottom line - it worked great if anyone needs it.

Seller's Ebay name is paintpens

Definately not at my local dealers. They carry brush and bottle type. A few years ago the bottle cap has a ball point pen like type. Still the same bottle, just a slightly improved brush/cap that integrated the pen. No clear or double ends.

I picked some up at my dealer, but the bottle doesn't look anything like that. It says "Toyota" on it and it's the brush and pen type of applicator.

Got any pictures of where you used the paint pen on?

I don't think my camera is capable of capturing the spot very well - the only way I could find it on a picture is if I take it in the garage - outside I can hardly find it myself and I had to point it out to my wife. Here is a pic anyways.

Went to Ebay to get the touch up paint BUT they don't have "Shoreline Blue or Code 8V5"....sucks

If enebody knows where to get color code 8V5 touch up paint please let me know.

I did the same as mpaquette. I went to the dealer and got their pen/brush type. When I used it, the paint was fairly thin... so to touch-up a small rock chip, I had to apply a few thin coats. Otherwise, it would look like a blob. Overall, it worked well.

Sorry to resusitate an old tread....can the same touch up kit and technique be used on dime-sized chip on the bumper?
