Toyota 0W20 vs. Mobile 1 0W20 Observation

I have been using the Mobile 1 0W20 for oil changes due to its availability and cost. During my most recent oil change @ 38,289 I decided to go back to the the Toyota 0W20 oil. Once I started the engine after changing the oil I immediately noticed a much quieter engine (much less valve train noise). Has anyone tried or noticed the same? I sent that last batch of used Mobile 1 0W20 to Blackstone for a report and will do the same once the same number of miles is put on the Toyota 0W20 to see if there are any substantial differences.

Yes I am serious, I wanted to try since the Toyota has a considerable difference in the amount of molybdenum as well as a few other differences from the Mobile 1 0W20. Also the Toyota 0W20 isnt "dyno" its full synthetic.

i noticed the same; switched to TGMO 0W20 and never looked back. used oil analyses look superb.

I don't think there's a 0w-20 non-synthetic oil out there... It's all full-synthetic, even in this case the Mobil1 wouldn't be a blend like most of it is these days.

I wonder who makes the Toyota 0w-20. Also who's going to be making the 0w-16 we're phasing in also...

I know that it is bottled by ExxonMobil.

The prices vary but in general it seems that the Toyota oil is about $2-$2.50 more per quart over the Mobile 1.

In my personal opinion.... Amsoil Synthetics is the only way to go! Not just their Motor oil, all of Amsoil's lubricants and products are simply top notch!

Doesn't really matter what you run, as long as you keep it full and change it routinely.

How many threads are are on here about worn out motors, not to mention from an oil related issue?

M1 0w20 can be found for under $5 a quart from wallyworld or amazon. You can get 12 quart cases of Toyota juice on amazon or ebay for around $7.50 per quart. Either are still a really good deal for a good quality synthetic oil.

I do the filter (Genuine Toyota) and oil (M1 0-20w) every 7.5K. Walmart = $22.50 for 5 qt jug.:thumb:

When is the last time you even heard of an engine problem specifically and irrefutably attributable to using one brand of oil, such as Mobil (yes, it's "Mobil" and not "Mobile"), instead of another? When is the last time a costly and time-consuming oil analysis came back showing imminent catastrophic engine failure due to using the wrong brand of oil?

I know, I know, live and let live... people just perplex me sometimes...

M1 has been known to make engines noisier due to how thin the oil is. I moved away from M1 a long time ago and started to use Penzoil Platinum as it made the engine quiet and smoother.

Same always ran platinum in my g35 never had a oil consumption issue even with 175k on it. Also made my dodges loud ass valvetrain noticeably quieter and smoother.

I don't think running Mobil 1 is going to cause premature engine failure but If there's an oil that suits our vehicles better then why not? If the price point is roughly the same, then why not? There's lots of evidence regarding the additives in Toyota's synthetic. Unfortunately, I have too many cases of Mobil 1 to get through before I can try OEM oil.

LOL, my bad, I guess I'm an "OCD shamer." I know they can't help it, any more than I can help some of my own personality quirks. I guess I just feel like if even one person's extreme oil anxiety is relieved a little bit by my introducing an element of rationality, then it's worth the effort.
