Toyota 75w or 75w90 in transfer case?

I'm sure this has been beaten to death but Im finally due to change my transfer case fluid. I know toyota calls for the expensive 75w fluid. But I was curious to see if anyone is actually running it vs 75w90 which is available everywhere. When I called my dealer to price put the 75w they had no clue what i was talking about lol.
So just curious to know who's running 75w90 with no issues. Thanks guys

I used RAVENOL J1C1003 which is MTF-3 75W 2 years ago and no issues.

I know a few guys that have come across deals on Toyota 75w gear oil and use it, but the majority of people I know, myself included 75w90 GL-5 for both axles and transfer case. I use Redline 75w90 GL-5, and Amsoil Severe Gear 75w90 is another pretty popular choice.

Please note: I make these comments as someone who has a modified, higher mileage vehicle that is self maintained and has zero warranty left, and most of the guys I run with are in the same situation with highly modified vehicles and no warranty.

I’ve been using Delvac 75w-90 but might try the RedLine MT-LV 70W/75W GL-4 next change. Just to give it a try.

Same. Used it for 2 fluid changes so far. It's at least as good as the Toyota stuff.

tried to get the toyota oe 75w form the dealer...he said they do not even use that...they use bulk 75/90 Mobil 1

Valvoline 75W90 synthetic. No issues, shifts just fine.

I just ordered Royal Purple Syncromax for my TC and Maxgear 75w90 for the diffs. If anyone is interested, Royal Purple Direct has all those on sale, roughly about $16 per bottle. It ended up being $115 for all 7 quarts. Free ground shipping as well.

the Toyota transfer case fluid is a lot of money , but the electrical components in the transfer case has a different fluid that wears the parts .
some have issues ..the dealerships change the 75-90wt mobile gear oil ..
the owners did a 4wd to the change of the drive train and it is harder ..
other have a leaks .
I looked up the Toyota 75W transfer case fluid and the fluid has a lot of materials,,, that not use wear and shift the 4wd easy ..

transfer case fluid is around 75K miles .. but if your use a trailer 35K miles.
I got my 4 runner and I inspected the drive train fluids all the time very clear .. my rear diff oil I changed it 3K miles .. it was a gray color and some specks in it ...

i personally called 5 different dealers all in my area, they all claimed they have never sold the 75w weight gear oil and they all use 75w90 synthetic.

OK here's my story I owned a 2011 Trail and I put Amsoil 75w /90 gear oil in the transfer case at a low mileage all seemed find ....but it seemed a little hard to shift into low... All was find at 114,000 miles and I traded it in for a 2019.. The new 2019 sifted into high and low real nice , so I always wondered was it the 75w/90 gear oil in the 2011.. Could all be my imagination. But now its time to change the oil in the 2019 and I'm going with the 75w Toyota oil....Why whats 2 qts at $75 vs a $2000 / $3000 transfer case.. in the end just farting into the wind here.I guess ...good luck what ever you choose to do
