Has anyone tried replacing OEM FOB key cover with after market metal cover?

As much as I would love a metal case on my key, I can't see it working all that well.

The metal case would significantly decrease the range of the remote, likely to the point that it is unusable.

I've tried to replace my key fob with a folding one, but the key wasn't cut well. It would unlock the car, but wouldn't turn in the ignition.

Nothing specific. I was wondering if there is any aftermarket metal cover available to fit 4Runner's fob key. But I think due to the range issue, I will skip doing it.
