Did you notice that the OEM radio is a 6-cd with MP3?? It appears to be of standard size too, 7 7/8 x 3 7/8

Regarding model line change, I think that going to be new 2007 Highlander. 4Runner was introduced after Highlander and RAV4, so they will be updated first, and then in a couple of years we'll see new 4Runner. BTW, Japan friends said to me that 4Runner will have some new elements for 2006, this means we have approx. 3 year to new modification => Possibly 5th gen will be 2009.

Right there in the pictures....this is a yuppie vehicle parked in front of some overpriced restaurant with swishy snotty waiters talking down to you in some pretnesious phony Eurotrash accent.....and expecting a huge tip for serving you a teeny tiny meal that would not feed a starving Ethiopian....and snotty greasy haired valets waiting to ding your car and burn some rubber at your expense becuzase it was not a Range Rover......

Just let me have a my 4Runner, no pretentions, and let me find some hole in the wall where the best BBQ'ed ribs can be had---the kind that is so good it'll make you wanna slap yo mama......or some local guru in the backwoods who can whip up hot spicy crawdads by the bucketful on your table.....no silverware. Just use your fingers.....and lots of paper towels....

I don't know...this one looks like it could actually have some off road capability. First clue: the 4WD shifter in the console. I doubt Toyota would put the shifter for a mall-duty SUV. Second clue: 6-lug wheels. These are usually only reserved for the real trucks (although the Land Cruiser only uses 5).

Those seats look great though, looks like they have the thigh support that I feel my 4Runner is lacking.

As a replacement to the Highlander that is...

It looks great compared to the other "soccer mom" SUV's I see out these days. It at least looks like a capable vehicle for both on & offroad use.

It also gives me hope for the next generation of 4Runner (who's front end, I'm hoping will be based in part on the new Tacoma).

I really like how it looks. I agree, it does look about the right size for the new highlander.

Ollie, by your post I can tell you must eat at Carl's Jr.

This would be a good fit for my parents or someone who doesn't expect to go off road.

Boy that rear quarter panel sure does look like the Mercedes M plus a mixture of Sequoia and Sienna.
I think the front has a little bit of Mazda look to it.

Saw these in person in Thailand. They are about the same size and scale as the 4Runner. A little bit higher than a stock 4Runner. They are very nice looking, dare I say, nicer than the 4Runner.

Feeble engines though.

This is the equivalent of the Lexus GX 470/Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. It even uses the same dashboard.

Instead of the 4Runner chassis, it's based on the new Toyota Hilux (the heavy duty international version of Tacoma).

Here's the platform and 3.0 liter Direct Injection, Common Rail, Intercooled D-4D TurboDiesel engine.

It replaces the terribly ugly Toyota Condor:

I don't think it's a Highlander replacement. This one is a real SUV, not a tall AWD wagon that the current Highlander is..

In addition, Toyota has already showcased the concept of the next gen Highlander in car shows around the world.

be advised though.. it rides quite a bit higher than the 4Runner, and has even less interior space (rear legroom was horrible).. I was also gonna say it had a jarring ride, but that might have been because of my uncle's 20's lol.

I think so. New Tundra is coming this year. Looks like Sequoia will be next, it's build on the same frame.

Bad luck, the Fortuner is not intended for the U.S. market, just like the Sequoia is only sold in the U.S.

Not correct. They do sell Sequia all over middle east and that also in diesel as well.
