Toyota needs to fire their designers

I agree, Toyota's Design Team (Lexus as well) has had poor taste in recent years. The new Prius being the latest example of god awful design. The 5th gen Refresh being another, the SR5's look like emo kids with their mascara running foglights, not to mention the fact that those foglamp openings are horrible, they had a good idea with the vent going, then they just shoehorned a round headlamp into it. The Limiteds with their giant chrome bar is nothing glamorous to look at either, small wonder many owners are trading them out for SR5 or Trail front ends from other owner's take-offs. The new Rav4 literally looks like a Storm Trooper from the front in White, the Highlander looks like a bloated Chry-crap Pacifica and the interior design is lacking (really Toyota? You call that a good center console design?). The Camry looks like a puffed up Corolla, which is funny since they made a big stink of how new it was.
Bottom line, Toyota's never really had a solid line on styling; their grills and brand identity in terms of style and design has always been all over the place and it seems like now more than ever it's getting a bit worse... First they were too bland, now they seem to just be chaotic and disorganized rather than edgy and creative.

Drive with your knees. Or better yet... trade your 4Runner in for another, more suitable, vehicle. Those hands were made for a RAV4 anyway.

Don't get me started on the fact that I have to actually touch the switch on the lift gate to get it to rise.
Totally poor engineering on Toyota's part.
My first car, a 1971 Chevy Vega wagon had the "Automatic Lift-gate Release Option" (Code CV-ALO) .
It would lift itself up on it's own. Sometimes even on the highway.
Thank God the lift tubes were shot, because it actually made the rear window an aero wing and allowed me to reach 78 MPH one dark night with my girlfriend clenching my hand on it's 4 speed stick shift with a death grip only Hulk Hogan and Jeffrey Dahmer understand.
We have lost that engineering expertise for sure.
