Toyota OEM rebuilt Steering rack from dealership.

It went well other than the old rack not wanting to come out haha but as stated you will need the outters but so far so good it looked exactly like the picture and I guess time will tell how it holds up

the frame of my 4runner isn't rusty but that rack sure was and the ps pressure line which I also wound up needing

Was the pinion part hard to get off where the steering rod meets the rack? I have a couple rusted bolts and have a feeling it's going to be a pain to get that part off.

the intermediate shaft was a trouble spot it had to be cut off the old rack and placed into a vice to get it out
is that the part you mean? (disregard those arrows just using the pic for an example)

I just ordered a new rack from camelback last night for 548.00 and free shipping. After searching and reading a lot of info on oem vs safari vs standard aftermarket I decided a new oem was best for me.
I did exactly this just under 2 years ago. I don't expect any rack trouble for the remainder of my time as the vehicle's owner. All for about $190 more than a [questionable]rebuilt unit...

Great find! I looked on Amazon and never seen that. Im sure a lot of people will appreciate that when looking for a remand rack.

Yes that's exactly what I'm talking about. I really hope it doesn't give me to much trouble. Im debating on taking it to a shop to work on it on a lift or just doing it in my driveway. As far as looking at the rack that seems like the biggest hassle.

I'll be starting the job monday once I have the part in hand.

Looks like the price jumped to $465.95, but if you monitor the URL using camelcamelcamel.com it'll notify you of price fluctuations and alert when it falls below whatever you set it to:

I bought an Edelman hp power steering line since I destroyed mine taking the rack out. It came with one oring and two washers. Does the oring go on the hp line going to the rack or does it go on the sensor at the reservoir? Anyone can answer thanks.

Bumping really need the question above answered whoever knows. I'm paying to use a lift as we speak and need to get this all back together the right way. Thanks

This thread isn't that old and I didn't want to start a redunant one. My question is this.... I always thought Steering Racks were in the $400 to $500 range. Even on the post below coming from Amazon...

why is this under $300? The Re manufactured one posted below by the same seller (BuyAutoParts) was $414. This one is claiming to be New for only $294. Unless the remanufactured ones were OEM, and this isn't.

https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Quality-Steering-Assembly-4Runner/dp/B00YJHHKBW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468884776&sr=8-1&keywords=4425035042%2C+Toyota+Steering

I'm asking, because I have a binding\clunking sound that I CAN'T FIND on my front end..... I've had it on a lift twice now for my UCAs and alignment and it was shook down with no results. Even told them to listen for it when it came off the rack and of course it didn't do it then... lol

That's cheap reman not oem. It's why it's so cheap.

So what was the final solution to your question? And, how did the Edelmann line workout?
