Toytec lift w/KDSS

Its time to put my suspension lift on and take off the crappy spacers.

I will be running FRONT: Toytec ultimate set at 2.5 from factory REAR: Bilstein shocks with SAW 1.5 coils. I'll be running stock size BFG ( on truck already ) with after market rims once I can decide on them.

Will I have to mess with the KDSS sway bars for the install?

What should I watch out for as far as anything else.

Im nervous as hell tackling this project . Im going to attempt myself with a buddy on hand. It looks to me that its a kind of a plug and play install for the front. Should I put the 1" difff drop in or not worth it ?

Anything I should watch for on the rear or is it just as simple as putting rear springs and shocks in a vehicle..

Any idea what I can expect for ride quality and handling?

After that I'll get alignment.

Thanks guys , just need some reassurance .

Hey, can I ask you what you consider "crappy" about the spacers? Is it a bad ride or just not good for off-roading? I am just about to pull the trigger on the Toyotec spacer kit but my understanding is that the stock ride shouldn't really change with them. I am not doing any sort of build for off-roading - mine is a pavement princess, just want a taller and level look.

check out the very thorough writeup by eddiebx... http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/154230-how-lift-installation-kdss-equipped-vehicles.html

the diff drop is not necessary.

did you get new UCAs? you may find that you're alignment-ally challenged without them. aftermarket UCAs will help you get more positive caster.

My spacers are Called cornfed suspension spacers. would never by them again just because of their customer service. I bought the 2" front and 1" rear and it gave me and 1.25" rear and 2.5" front. I like the stance it gave me.

The ride has been rough this winter. I'm sure because of higher rated and the type of tires I'm running. I don't know why but the front end seems like stock but the back end rides rougher. I think you'll be happy with the spacer kit Toytec has . how high are you going to go ?

Yes. The sway bars will have to be unhooked. KDSS is easiest to work on when you have the load off of the system. So make sure all four corners are hanging at full droop when doing the install. As far as hooking them back up, your best friend will be a set of ratchet straps and a jack to line them back up.

I was pretty nervous when I started mine, but once you start pulling doing, it starts to make sense as to how everything goes together. Just take your time, and have patience with it. No input on the diff drop though as I didn't install one.

The rear is fairly simple. Should take too much effort. Make sure that all four corners are still at full droop though to making lining the rear sway bar back up.

Good luck on the install and have fun with it! Post up some pics when you're done.

+1 on getting aftermarket UCAs if you want to get anywhere near +4 of caster.

I only lifted the front 2" and didn't have much adjustment left on LCA cams after pulling +4 caster...this was with my UCA set at +2 caster already.

I don't think you would get past bare minimum caster with stock UCAs and 2.5" lift...

I think the kit I was referred to was 3" in the front and 2.5" in the rear. I want to run about a 285/70 tire on the stock rims and to sit a little higher than stock. I am a tall guy and am used to my other vehicles that were higher up.
