Toytec Ultimate BOSS

I mean look at the bright side, at least they ground down the sway bar and not the coil, lol. What's done is done :tape:

eddiebx is absolutely correct whodat lol. I think your swaybar should be ok. Good luck and keep the thread updated.

When you fix the spacer issue you may want to also add some paint (black and red) to the respective parts to cover up the rusting/dings created by the rubbing. Just a thought.

The swaybar spacers should also come with a set of spacers for the frame braces as well. When you move the swaybar, it will hit the frame braces if you don't space them down. Also, make sure the bottom of the Coilover is spaced towards the rear of the vehicle since they should come with a thicker and a thinner bushing.

All kinds of room!

Lenny33 What's ride quality like? How does it absorb things like pot holes and speed bumps at slow and fast speeds? I'm looking for a plush ride without spending $$$ on a King set up.

Thanks in advance.

Oh man, I think I would be pretty irate if that happened lol Oh well, :guitar3:

Thank you sir, and will do.

Yup yup, reading up on the best way to go about that, thanks!

I'm kinda confused. Just to make sure I understand what you're saying, swaybar spacers = the black spacer around the swaybar (which is stock), and the frame brace spacers = the silver piece in KCcarguy's pic?

Also do you mean the bottom of the coilover that has the empty space should be faced towards the rear of the vehicle? And what do you mean when you say it should come with a thicker and thinner bushing? Should it be thick and thin at the same time, how's that possible?

I would build the ground down portion with bondo and wrap it with duct tape just to be safe!:pimp:

Ok, will do...wait...wtf?...oh yeah, it's Stifler...wait...is he serious? lol is he?

... other side.

Wow, I am really no where near that right now lol Thanks for the pics!

Hey man, sorry about the confusing post. First of all, I was assuming the Toytec Coilovers were similar to the Icons. After reviewing the Toytec install instructions(http://www.toyteclifts.com/images/stories/pdf_files/ul-fj3k_instructions.pdf) and looking at Lenny33 's pics above, I see they are different. On Icons, there is a short spacer and a long spacer at the bottom Coilover mount. On the Toytecs, the bottom mount is the same on both sides. So, disregard.

As far as the swaybar relocation, once again, it looks slightly different than the Icon kit. The install instructions above give pics and info on how to install the Toytec one. Disregard what I posted about the spacers for the frame braces.

Once again, I apologize for the confusion.:faint:

I am quite happy with the ride - better than stock, easily.
But, I have so little driving time with this new setup and I am still tweaking front coil over adjustments. Just don't want to lead anyone in the wrong
Direction with my very limited experience with this setup.
So far - love it.

Update: got the swaybar spacers installed and the clearance is much better. Squeak is gone.

Funny thing is that I sprayed the underside with water after a snow storm with plenty of salt on the road, and a different squeak popped up! It went away after roughly 10 miles and a speed bump. Wierd! But I will keep an eye on it to see if it comes back with or without a car wash.

For those of you considering this kit, my experience was immediately after the install I had a very noticeable "klunk thud" sound after hitting a speed bump. It progressively got better and after today's test run at 5, 10, and 20mph on the same speed bump, the noise is gone. More can be found in this thread http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/164516-rear-shocks-too-short.html

After reading that thread I got a bit paranoid and decided to check the bottom of the truck anyways. Checked the bump stops if any contact was made, it looked fine. Then I checked the rear shock and :censored: :censored: :censored:

I calmed down a bit and then :censored: a zip tie?!

Needless to say, I will be bringing it into the dealer who did the install. I think a replacement is not out of order, correct? Of course I will keep it polite, but man I am torqued! It's the principle that I paid them to install something, not install it broken and try to cover it up with a zip tie!? They should have the common decency to own up to the mistake.

Edit: checked if the diff drop was installed too because at this point I don't trust them anymore. Luckily they did. I also called Toytec last week about a replacement spanner wrench because they broke it during the install, and Toytec sent out a replacement and I got it the next day. Kudos to Toytec!

I just install the boss kit and the UCA it is really close to the tire is this normal?
I am running 285/70-17 BFG mud
Also adjusting the height on the front was a pain on the rear.

I can now give my opinion as i installed a Boss system this past weekend on a friends truck. For the slight cost difference its %100 worth it. the Boss uses an custom valved Eibach shock(per toytec's rep) with a threaded body, no more clip and threaded adapter(not that there is anything wrong with that setup). It also used a uniball on the lower mount vs a bushing. Install was cake as they always are with the quality toytec products. no parts were missing and everything fit correctly. The ride, was much better. I can't really pinpoint what was better about it, but i have driven 100s of 5100 equipped 4runners. and i immediately felt that this rode better. Its wasn't drastic but it was an improvement over the 5100s and a huge difference over stock.

If anyone is on the fence over the ultimate or the Boss. Go with the Boss. It will be my recommendation from now on.

Yes that is normal, most people chose to run a 1.25" spidertrax spacer to give them more room. %50 of the time 285s rub the UCA, It depends on the wheels and tires

Did you look at the shocks before they were installed? I'm almost positive my rear 5100's came from Toytec with zip ties securing shock boots.

Thanks Scott, I thought I did something wrong.
You think that If I install aftermarket UCA (Icon or total chaos) will help with clearance or my only option will be the 1.25" spidertrax?

Love my Toytec BOSS kit! Had it on now 500 miles and the only thing I might do is lower the front half an inch as I'm carrying some weight in the rear.

Is 500 miles enough for the springs to settle to their set height?

Im assuming your still running the stock wheels. you could gain some clearance with the aftermarket uniball style arms, But, Most people perfer the wider stance with either aftermarket wheels or the spacers as the truck usually looks much better. Ive had a number of people that didnt think they wanted it that wide until they saw it.
