Toytec Ultimate BOSS

Well, I would like to say I am a blind idiot! I wasn't going to make it to the dealer and then to work on time, so I called them up. Asked them about the zip ties on the Bilsteins and they said it was how it came as and it's normal, they work on a bunch of other shocks and it's normal to have zip ties on it. I asked them "are you sure? Why does one shock have it and the other doesn't?" They said it's normal, and maybe the zip tie fell off the other side? I said I'll look into it more. Quick google search and turns out it's normal and the pictures online even show the zip ties, I had to just look for it really hard because it blends in with the black boot. I called them up and told them I was sorry and they were right and wished them a good day :becky: Thankfully I wasn't an ass to them because that would make me an ass blind idiot.

I went under the truck and cut the old zip tie, pulled it down to check anything out of the norm and I noticed nothing in terms of debri or being dirty, pulled it up, and zip tied it. Went to the other side to zip tie it, and there was already a zip tie on it! That's where the "blind" idiot part comes in sheesh!

Did you look at the shocks before they were installed? I'm almost positive my rear 5100's came from Toytec with zip ties securing shock boots.

No sir, that was ignorance on my part. But lesson learned, check inventory for everything, no matter how busy I am, otherwise its my fault too.

Yes ALL shockboots are zip tied on, And thats all I use.

I should really wait for responses from the forum before I do anything in the future, it would make me look less like an asshat! :becky:

Well, all is good for now, thanks for all the help again gents!

Love my Toytec BOSS kit! Had it on now 500 miles and the only thing I might do is lower the front half an inch as I'm carrying some weight in the rear.

Is 500 miles enough for the springs to settle to their set height?

I'm not sure if there's a magic number for it. I know others just drive around the block a few times and call it good with other lifts. For me, it's the same height post 20 miles and post 500+ miles. Hope that helped.

Im assuming your still running the stock wheels. you could gain some clearance with the aftermarket uniball style arms, But, Most people perfer the wider stance with either aftermarket wheels or the spacers as the truck usually looks much better. Ive had a number of people that didnt think they wanted it that wide until they saw it.

I'm running 285/70-17 but I think is the offset of the wheels. I went ahead and got the spacers. Thank you for all your help.

Here is a pick.

Thanks. It does sit pretty high I measure from the ground to the wheel well 41 1/4" in the rear and 39 1/2 up front, I really like it like that and I probably won't go any lower at front. I still have to do the 1" differential drop + the wheels spacers before I take it to get it align.

1. Thanks for the feedback and the laugh. I woke up my wife laughing at your "large hands for a Asian/ normal hands" joke LMFAO...
2. If you want to upgrade the shock boot retention, go to the hardware store and get a couple of hose clamps/ airplane clamps and replace your zip ties with those. The boot will rip before it comes off the shock body once you tighten them down.... With your big Asian hands.

Thanks to everyone for the feedback on this lift. I was debating between this and the ultimate for my 4th gen but I can't find any reviews. This thread is a huge help.

I finally got the spidertrax spacers put on and it fix the UCA clearance problem, got an alignment done and everything was good until..... i started to heard this weird noise coming from the front of the truck, when I looked i found out that the sway bar is making contact with the spring:mad2:
The funny thing is that when I called Toytec and ask then if I was going to need it they told me NO because it was a trail edition, now I have to call them again, i'm tired of taking the truck apart.

ordering my boss lift NOW. Still deciding on the UCAs (though they wont by LR's based on all the negative reviews)

Total Chaos is what all the cool kids are doing these days. Just have to plan to replace the uniball, along with all of the other eccentric bearings, during regular overhauls.

They most likely assumed your trail edition has KDSS which most of them do. Did they send out the sway bar drop brackets to you?

I call them and told them that I had a trail without the KDSS and I even wrote it on the special notes on the order and still the said no I didn't need it.

Are the sway bar brackets included with the kit (if needed) or something that has to be purchased separately?

In the Boss kit picture it looks like its there but its not in the description; they also sell it for $30. Thanks.

Given the Sway bar spacer issue seems to be an issue on SR5 / non kdss...is there anything else tricky I should make my installer aware of on my TE w/ KDSS?

No matter how logical it seems, don't try to release the KDSS fluid, it will be a very expensive mistake for the installer :)

It should be included in the kit, mine was missing, found out thanks to the forum. Called Toytec and they sent it out that day, I got it in 1 day. If you're missing it, just give them a call and they'll set you straight, you should not have to pay anything extra.

camposturtle when you say "no I didn't need it" are you referring to the spacers to clear the UCA? Because I think Scott@Hightech was referring to the sway bar drop brackets that you need to clear the sway bar and spring. It definitely resolved my sway bar and spring rubbing.

I was referring to the sway bar relocating kit. I already got the spidertrax spacers and install them, everything is good with the UCA. I called toytec Wednesday and spoke with Scott and they are sending the relocation kit for the sway bar, it should be on the mail today.

anyone have successful alignment specs (Im still running stock UCAs) and they're about to pull it into the bay shortly. Firestone has declined to let me purchase the lifetime  :violin:

disregard :) found the answers a few pages deeper in the search, I just panicked and hadn't made time to check. Kicking myself for not ordering UCAs before I got the C/Os on but gives me incentive to see what they can do with the factories, then if my tires wear prematurely, Ive got incentive for 285s, though Id like more than a few thousand miles. :embarassed:
