Nope that's a 4wd. I couldn't believe it myself, I paid $36k but mine came with extras.

I had a momentarily lapse of reason when after I purchased my 15 LE, I wanted a Platinum Tundra, I paid 44K for the LE, they offered 38K Trade with only 2K miles!!! all of sudden I remembered I LOVE my RUNNER.

Really? Just had a 2015 and think it's one of the purdiest out there. How can 860 pound feet of torque and 17.5 mpg not do it for you? I was in love.

I definitely can't agree with his statement. Subaru, like Toyota are well known for their longevity and dependability. My fiance just traded in her outback sport for a brand new forester. I was surprised at how well the forester drove for the money. She's owned nothing but Subaru and hasn't had any problems with them. They have a loyal fan base for a reason.

The girlfriend picked up a 2015 outback and it's amazing to drive/ride in.... I have not heard of any severe and widespread issues in a 2012+ subaru. The crosstreks are definitely below subaru's quality though. I use to ride/drive client cars all the time for my old job; the 6-8 crosstreks I've spent time in seem to all have a cheap, poorly constructed interior. They look good in burnt orange though; only subaru I would not say has exceeded my expectations.

$32K for an SR5 Premium? That is a crazy deal. Are you sure your friends are being completely honest with you, lol? For reference, an SR5 Premium 4x2, with no additional options goes for $33,753 per USAA's car buying service (which generally provides excellent pricing), with anything less than $33,030 listed as an "unusually low price."
I think I paid $36K for mine. But it's 4x4, and also has 3rd Row Seating. And it was before the $750 30th Anniversary Discount was offered.

The ongoing engine issues with the 2007 -2015 STi engines. that's right even the new 2015 STi will has ring land issues. Subaru has not attempted to come up with a fix. I have seen other models with serious engine problems as well with very low miles. I didn't have a chance to tear into them nor am I looking into the root causes but I have seen enough that I wouldn't buy one.
In 2004-05 subaru had a great STi but they felt they had to improve emissions so they revised the head design and piston design in the ej257 engines. Prior to this these very rugged engines would last 250k fairly easily! Now stock STi models grenade anywhere from 1000 miles to 25k miles many of them bone stock.
subaru also changed maintenance intervals on engines without engine changes or using different oils. One important thing with the older ej was this 3k oil change interval IMO.
my wife has been in a Subaru for the past 15 years. We had THE FIRST Tribeca delivered to our area. It was a turd, other than that they have all been gold.
when I hear you say STi problems my first thought goes to the owners. Not sure its possible to make anything bullet proof for THAT crowd. ;-)
As far as trade in values - just recently traded my '13 FJC for the 'runner. I basically drove that truck for free for 18 months. Almost. Paid 32 for it and after a year and half and 20k miles. Dusty dirty and with love marks showing. They took it and 12,500 to trade up to the TRDP. I feel pretty good about that and expect it'll NEVER happen that way again. ;-)

This^^^; high trade in value is very misleading. They are not in business to lose money.

Sorry man somebody is blowing smoke to the tune of about $4K minimum for a 4X4 SR5 Premium. I know what the dealers pay.

I think its related to how many Subaru's have gone to the cvt transmission. even the legacy 3.6R has gone to the cvt.
I wont even give it a second thought to NOT get a legacy now that they have the cvt in the legacy/outback 3.6R
I for one loved my 3.6R w/o the cvt, but that dreaded Subaru creak/clunk/noise just got on me after 3yrs.

As they say "different strokes for different folks". It has the exact same body style for almost the last 20 years, minus the grill, headlights and a few other trinkets, I do like the seats and dash though. I still prefer the obs look over what's offered now. I already hear a few people complaining about the DEF regen doing it very often and taking forever, as well as turbo problems. I don't like all that emission chit, how long before there's problems, how long will they last is too soon to tell. I don't see why anyone would buy one right now when a actuall redasign should be just around the corner, not to mention switching to a aluminum body. The old 7.3's were built by International, so just because it says "powerstroke" means nothing to me, these are considered million mile motors for a reason, they were even in school buses and dump trucks. I am not one to just focus on hp and torque numbers, so doesn't mean much to me on the new 6.7. I could go on and on but I don't want to muck up Kenny Rogers thread any more than already has been.
Not trying to justify it, like I said call me crazy, not the first time i have heard it. I guess my biggest epiphany was when I just finished my classic muscle car, I just prefer older vehlicles, seems like they have a soul more than the cookie cutter's offered today, not to mention quality ain't what it used to be. Toyota is the only one left with quality today, but even then they are cutting corners here and there to maximize profit in today's hard market.
And did I mention the best part? My wife hates it, LOL. I think it looks great next to her Lexus

Ok i gave my phone number to another toy dealer internet dept so a call should be coming to try and sell me. Lets see what trade they come up with. Im not driving around and haggling with salesmen just to be told numbers I wont take whether they are fair or not. Maybe I should wait till the last day of the month when they just want to move a vehicle to make a quota. This sounds stupid but it does happen. Not to the tune of 32k for a new sr5 premium though. I will never believe that one.

Again, only discuss one number and that is the DIFFERENCE between what you are trading and what you are buying. Go to Edmonds.com or one of those sites and get a number you think is fair for your trade. Find the invoice price of the new vehicle you want to buy. That difference is the negotiating number. That way you don't care what they charge you for the new vehicle or what they give you for your old vehicle because if you get the difference worked out to your satisfaction then the selling price is a moot point.
