Traded my 2010 sr5 on 2011 trail

I was in for the 25k service for my 10' sr5 and noticed (2) trails sitting on the lot. I stopped back a week later and after test driving a kdss equipped 4 runner, I made a deal on a salsa red trail. I only regret not test driving one the first time around. ( there were no trails on the lot locally when I purchased my sr5 last 6/10). The only feature I could of done without is the sliding cargo tray but the dog doesn't seem to mind. I plan to keep this trail at least a decade or when they release a turbo diesel 30 mpg 4 runner!

After 3 rounds of going back and forth, I was able to get 30 for the sr5 and the trail i couldnt any lower than 36.5. It's been 96 hrs , no buyers remorse yet haha,so I am sure I made the right choice this time.

Now that you've driven both, how does the TE drive differently (i'm talking on-road) than the SR5? Less drifting on the highway? Louder/quieter?

I own both a trail and SR5. The SR5 is the wife's and it's very different on road than the trail. The trail is much flatter around corners than the SR5 but doesn't soak up the smaller bumps as well as the SR5 because of the beefed up sway bars. Of course, this translates into increased "roughness" but not to the point of being annoying or bothersum. The trail and SR5 are just as loud as each other on road and the steering feel is the same between the two. Touchy.

I'll be interested in the OP's assessment.

Based on the 270 miles I have driven. I have noticed a great difference in terms of lean, lack of nose dive and generally tighter less soft ride. I know I could of went the ome or toytec route to alleviate this . I wanted the trail and made I believe a good choice.

I was thinking of changing out the stock tires, maybe rev0 2's ? Duratracs look cool but my offroading is 90% on sand beaches so they look like maybe too aggressive for sand. I had these oem grand treks on my 02' pathfinder and they were good for 60k and worked fine on the sand with reduced air pressure. So maybe I will keep it stock for the time being with the exception of planned rock sliders or nerf bars. I need to access surfboards on the racks.

Very true....I guess you can't have everything you want. My friend has a zhp coupe. Man, those things are fun to drive!

First mod is I have an appointment to change off the oem grand trek's for destination a/t stock size. I had these tires before and they worked well plus they are priced right. They had to get the tires from Indiana so I had to wait a week.
