Trading my T4R for a Durango R/T

The 4R is a lifetime vehicle. Buy it and drive it until it decomposes or until internal combustion engines are outlawed.

My thoughts exactly. When I bought my 4runner I knew I was entering into a long-term relatively worry-free committed relationship...full of awesomeness (camping, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, trail running, road tripping)!

I realize you don't want a minivan but If I had three kids I'd get a AWD Sienna and be done with it. Despite the self inflicted ego damage its hard to argue with the room and convenience of a mini van. But I'm and old dude now and don't really care what people think of me or what I drive.

Have you put any thought into purchasing a Canyonero? The amount of engineering that goes into the Canyonero completely eclipses what goes into the Durango.

Not arguing but the Tacoma is rated worse than the Durango per that site's reviewers. I could care less about issues of pre 2011 Durangos. I'm looking for 3rd gen +.

Dodge is junk, ugly , poor resale , maitainance intensive .....parts made in Mexico . I ve heard 100's of horror stories. Even frames breaking .

I would never consider anything dodge , much less a Durango.

Op needs a minivan or Highlander AWD ......highlander have super good resale value .

I'd buy a Pilot before a POS dodge . I d buy a Ford or Chevy too before anything Dodge.

It is not in my DNA to own ANY sort of minivan . I didn't want a giant gas guzzling , road hog V 8 expedition or alike.

I have never met a 4Runner owner who disliked his vehicle. I know a dozen Dodge haters right off the bat. Who ll never buy another.

I just ordered a 2016 LE Runner ....only problem I had was having to find a dealer to order an LE without third row seat and cargo tray . I needed the room to haul large items ....not kids .

People unhappy with their purchase tend to take the time to complain on those sites. People happy with their purchase do so far less often. I like my 4runner so far, but I have no interest in filling out a survey that states that point.

There are horror stories for every brand. Toyotas have problems too, it is just that on average, they have fewer than other cars. I'm certain there are people out there who have been burned by their toyota purchase.

My Father had a 97 grand Cherokee than ran superbly, even so I'd be hesitant to buy a modern Jeep. It is all about averages. On average there are certain brands (and sometimes certain cars) that are less reliable than others. Sometimes those unreliable brands mange to produce a gem that really stands out in their lineup.

The Durango you purchase could be fine. It could be a great purchase. It should be ok at first, but on average more things will go wrong in a Durango than would occur in some other cars. Again, just on average...your durango might end up on the good side of the bell curve which would be great!

I've never had any family or friends that drove a Toyota, so the Toyota brand was new to me at the time of my purchase (I grew up mostly with Volvos). I never had any doubts about the vehicle either before or after my purchase. Some cars and brands offer more peace of mind. I think this is the main thing.

Nissan quality has started to turn to shit over the last 10-12 years or so. My wife had an '05 Pathfinder "Off Road". Nothing but problems. She's got an SR5P now.

Yeah - I don't understand these posts from guys who want feel they need to justify selling their 4Runner for something else.

Seems like this whole thread would go better in the Durango forum where people can make the OP feel better about his purchase.

One thing for sure I will never buy anything but a Toyota again !! Went from a 04le 4x4 t4r totaled got a 01le sold got a 06 Le sequoia even sequoia actually suck for trade in for a Toyota . but traded for a Xterra pro4x traded for 12 ram express lost my but on it back to a 15 Le 4Runner gonna drive it till it literally falls apart then will fix it and give it to my son
