Trading tires with dealer??

Im trading in my 2006 sport on a new 4x4 sr5. I just put stock BFG rugged terrains on my 2006 and i want to trade them for the tires on the new sr5.

sport is 265/65
Sr5 265/70

Can this swap work? I just dont want the dealer to give me some BS in an attempt to keep my BFG's

I would think about buying a cheap used set for the 2005 (maybe for 200$?), trade it in, remove the new stock tires, and have the BFG's put on.

Sell the new stock tires on Craigslist (maybe 400$?)and enjoy your BFG's

The sales manager agreed to the swap, just as long as it was safe for both vehicles. I just wanna make sure it is, just incase they try to give me the run around. I love the rugged terrains, great tire for the price.

I probably would not want to go down a size...the wheel wells seem bigger on our 5th gens (as compared to the 4th gen), and the smaller tires might not look right? You would also loose a tiny bit of ground clearance...

I guess I'm looking at it from this perspective...people going up to 285/70R17 gain ~1" in tire diameter and the look is pretty noticeable. And going down to a 265/65R17 would be losing ~1" in tire diameter, so I'm assuming it's probably going to be just as noticeable if not more noticeable?

Personally, I would not do the trade simply because I'd be loosing some ground clearance at the rear diff pumpkin.

Maybe you just need to cut your loses on the old tires? Can't always have everything in life
