Trail Edition is now officially the TRD Off Road

Seems it would've made more sense to make a TRD Pro Premium of sorts, with a less clunky name. Keep the fancy suspension, but allow things like leather, 3rd row, sunroof and premium audio.

I could not agree more. I'd be in a TRD Pro Premium if they made one. In the end, I went with the Limited as I use the creature comforts every day vs. the limited time I spend off road (see what I did there?). One test drive in the Pro that left me a sweaty mess sealed the deal.
I am just glad the 2017 Runner is unchanged. This was the first official 2017 announcement I have seen. Looks like 2018 is the watershed year for the 4runner. New mid-sized BOF truck or no new mid-sized BOF truck. Time will tell.

Back on topic, the TRD Off-Road should have been the name of the Trail trim level from the beginning. Seems odd they would wait until the last year to pop a minor name/badge change on a vehicle that already out-sells it production numbers.

Red was actually not even on my consideration list. I didn't care for it in the Toyota press photos. My local dealer had one with KDSS, so I went to test drive it an actually liked it a lot in person. The dealer searched all over for a white or blue TEP for me and the more I looked at the red the more I liked it, so I decided to pull the trigger. It is a great color and I love it now. Cleans up really well and looks great dirty, too.

Similar experience here, but a different variation. I really wanted a red trail but couldn't find it, then I really wanted a dark grey one. A dealer had a silver and when I saw it in person I thought it looked pretty great. I really like silver now, but I did initially have my heart set on red.

A neighbor has a silver TE. I'd be lying if I said that it didn't partially inspire me to get back into a T4R. [emoji106]

I'm going to hold out for the 2018 LE TRD Pro-Street model.

Donk wheels, enough LED's underneath to make Freddie Mercury blush and badges everywhere. Fenders, pillars, roof. It's exciting and people will definitely notice me when I roll into the Wally World parking lot.

Your setup makes me like the actual Trail grill over the TRD pro. The trail is its own beast.. I'm slowly thinking I'll keep mine as is too! What size lift and tires on that sweet ride?

I get the TRDP is just a mildly modded TEP without KDSS or a sunroof but damn this is fun to watch the Trailer snobs freak out.

It's an awesome truck no matter the trim level, but LET THE TRIM WARS BEGIN!!!!

The mats are about the only thing I like about the combo.. I was hoping the 2017 would get better, not worse as I should wait until 2017 to get one (financially speaking). Now I am having to contemplate a 2016 purchase instead. lol

I just want to make sure I am getting this correct. The new TRD off-road is the previous Trail version, except it has new carpet floor mats, stitching in the headrest, and black paint in the wheels. What about these changes make this truck more capable for off-road driving? Does this model still come with street tires?... (Long sigh...)
