Same here. Was going to order a Trail Premium, now I'm thinking TRD Pro in Cement. Either that and wait for the '18 redesign.

I'm holding out for 6th gen, hopefully in '18 but my fear is t4r generations will start to last a decade like the tacos. Either way I personally don't like badging on my truck, one reason I got 2 trails. After having KDSS I won't go back to not having it. Just hope they don't have huge 4X4 off-road stickers on it like gmc does.
As mentioned above, TRD OR on the quarter panel would have been cool rather than a badge on the C pillar. I love the 80s graphics on first gen 4Runners, so my taste is a bit different.
The Trail has always basically been the TRD Off Road version of the 4Runner, though. It has had upgraded parts over the SR5 since the beginning of the Trail Edition (crawl control, locking diff, optional KDSS). They just now changed the name to bring it in line with Tacoma and Tundra.

I don't think it's that silly, all they are doing is renaming the Trail Edition to line up with what they are doing with the Tacomas. Makes sense to me.

Reminds me of '09 when the "sport" became the "trail" and it was the last year of that gen. (if memory serves me correctly). Now the "trail" becomes the "trd off-road" to parallel the tacos and set-up for a new gen in '18. Fingers crossed.

And in the picture they portray it has silver Trail wheels.
What happened to TRD = TRD wheels, TRD exhaust, TRD CAI, TRD shifter and whatever else TRD they can throw on.

Again, it's all relative. The Trail model is an upgrade over the SR5. Now the TRD is an upgrade over the SR5. It's just a name.
So you don't like the Tacoma TRDs (OR and Sport) then? The ideas you listed above are for the Pro models.

Agreed. And let's not act like TRD means anything; they're all Toyota parts designed by Toyota. People act like TRD is some Skunkworks type operation of rebellious engineers gone rogue. In reality; Toyota decides to put the TRD label on whatever parts it wants; shocks, wheels, floor mats, skid plates, etc. The Trail is no different than a Tacoma TRD O/R, especially now that it'll get upgraded shocks. Coming from a Tacoma TRD O/R, I always thought it was strange that they called it a 4Runner Trail instead of a TRD O/R.

TRD Pro vs Off Road if that is question?
Pro has 1/4 TRD skid plate, after market suspension w/ 1" lift, TRD wheels, Toyota instead of emblem on front, TRD Shifter, red stitched seats.
Nothing crazy, but those would be the differences I believe.

Don't forget lack of sunroof which I still cannot believe is not an option. Toyota must have the inside scoop on off-road deaths via sunroof. :heh:
