I agree on the key. All Toyota keys are identical. It's perturbing Toyota gives 4Runner owners a Carolla key. The Land Cruiser and 4Runner should have unique, flip out key fobs, different from the other low end models.

HAH!. No. That's an option you can get on a TEP.. you don't need a TRD for that. The main reason why a TRD isn't a wise investment is the engine. You get the same one whether you're buying a TE, TEP or TRD.

If the TRD came with a 600hp engine or some super charged system that justified the additional expense, I'd be more inclined to support it.

The only people who ask me why I didn't go with a TRD over the TE are the ones who don't fully understand the T4R line up.

Sure you get shocks, trim, badging and tires, but it's still missing one fundamental difference that would make the $10-15k increase in price worth it.

Can you guess what that might be?

Reminds me of '09 when the "sport" became the "trail" and it was the last year of that gen. (if memory serves me correctly). Now the "trail" becomes the "trd off-road" to parallel the tacos and set-up for a new gen in '18. Fingers crossed.

Not true, the 09 Trail was a small run with water proof seats & e-locker.

Actually, my fiancee's Corolla has a smart key that's even nicer than the one the Limited comes with. LOL

I agree that the 4Runner should have a flip out key. My goddamn VW Golf had one. I hate worrying if I'll bend the key or stab myself in the ass with it.

A flip out key would be nice. Or at least one that uses all four of the designated button locations. It looks so tacky having that one section that looks like it should have a button but doesn't.

There are still a couple left in the country for sale at dealers, got mine Saturday in Phoenix, AZ and they had a couple left. But yup last model year, as stated above.
