Trailer Hitch // Constant 12v?

So I'm getting ready to do a cargo organizer and an ARB Cooler, and it needs constant power for the fridge. One of the fine folks at my shop suggested we could tap into the trailer hookup wiring possibly. Does anyone know if that's constant power we could pull from?

Worst case we just have to run a cable down under the vehicle but this would be shorter and simpler.

Never, ever, f'in ever tap into your vehicle wiring for any reason. Assinate the person that does...

Run a circuit (or 12) from the battery to rear of the truck and call it a day. You're going to eventually need more power back there anyway.

That was the original plan, we'll just run the ARB wiring kit from the main battery under the vehicle to the rear and back up into the storage area.

You can also run the wiring through the grommet at the firewall...down the drivers footwear to the doorsills, from the doorsills up along the rear fender well (once you rip the trays up) and mount it in there...or put it in the jack storage area.

I don't like to run wiring under the truck because a branch could catch it and rip it off.


Of course......I'd actually have to go off the pavement to make that happen.

I think that's the idea, either we'd go under the door sills, and pop it out on the right tray in the storage area, since the fridge will go on the right side, ya know...to even out the toyota lean (hah).

Here is a link to some of my install, posts are scattered throughout this thread. Also shows my wire routing, cutting the OEM plug and adding an Anderson connector. Direct wire from battery, fused, through firewall, down kickplate and doorjam, and behind the second row seats terminated to an Anderson plug that connects to the ARB plug.

This is ridiculously helpful. I think I love you.

For the fridge I agree 100%- run a cable inside the truck to the back and install a plug.

I ran separate power from the aux battery to the rear. It will allow you to tap into a new fuse box for any additional accys that will be fused.
