Trailer light adapter

I'd just go look, but I'm at work and I need to know real quick...

My trailer plug is a "5 flat" and I need an adapter to plug it into my T4R. Is the reciever a "6 round?" My 4R is an '05 with the factory tow package.

You need to get a 7-to-4 adaptor.
Any auto parts warehouse would have one for around $10 or $15. Even a Wal-Mart perhaps... in the towing/hitch section of the store.

I picked mine up at the dealer during a service appt for like $12.

Correct me if I am wrong.

The fact you have brakes and a flat 5-wire tells me you have surge brakes, probably disc, with a reverse lockout, right?

absolutely correct. Surge brakes may be the most annoying invention of all time. They slam on, and really give your vehicle a little jolt every time they engage.
 
:iagree: Surge brakes can be annoying. I kind of like them though in spite of the bumping and thumping. What I like is they work, every time and don

This is the first trailer I've had with surge brakes, and I've got to be honest, I haven't really looked into what kind of maintenance it's going to require over the next couple of years. I do know it's only about 4 years old and the only extensive road time it has was when it was delivered to me from Jacksonvilee. Thanks for your advice.
 
I have one of these adapters. I bought a trailer light package, connected it up as instructed, connected the ground wire to the trailer (self-tapping screw), plugged the lights into the adapter that is connected to the factory installed hitch. When I try the lights, the adapter blinks but the lights do not. any thoughts would be appreciated. I thought the lights were bad but I tried several packages with no success..thanks
 
My 03 came with an adapter...I didn't buy it new however so I guess the previous owner could have bought it. It seems like something that should have been included with the tow package tho.

Mine (made by Drawtite) has an adjustment. The setting of 3.0 seems to work best for my pop-up.
