Trans temp with 5 speed?

I have been enjoying my new to me 2000 4runner 5 speed for the past couple months but have noticed a few of the infamous runner quirks. One of them is the gas gauge seems to read empty about 4 to 5 gallons too soon. I figured it is a good excuse to get a scangauge or ultra gauge. I know that the scangauge will read transmission temp while the ultra gauge will not. My question is will the scangauge read the temp on a manual transmission? Also does the temp matter as much on a manual for that matter? I do prefer the looks of ultra gauge if all things are equal but if trans temp is available to me then I might as well go that route. I know there is plenty of info on these two but wasn't able to find anything specific to the 5 speed.

Transmission temp is not nearly as important (if at all) on a MT than it is on an auto tranny. However, if you wanted to monitor the temp of it for some reason, the scangauge won't show it to you.

I'm pretty sure there's no temp sensor in the manual. Doesn't need it. No converter = nowhere near the heat that an auto can generate. As long as you're not slipping the clutch like a madman you have nothing to worry about. Just make sure you have some nice fluid in there, red line etc, to keep the synchros happy.

Thanks. I was thinking that it probably didn't have a sensor/didn't matter but just wanted to be sure. Getting some mt-90 in there is on my to do list. Put that in my 92 pickup and it loved it.
