transfer case and tranny. What years fit?

What year transfer cases and 5spd tranny's fit my 1985 toyota 4 runner 4*4.

I found a 87 5spd tranny and tranfer case for 100 bucks from a fiends truck. i will buy them as a back up as long as they fit.

Will they fit my 85? THANKS!!!

if u have efi than it should fit. the tranny in your truck is a w56 i believe, it could be a g54. the 87 will fit and if u do have the g series u should ditch it and through in the w56 as it is a stronger tranny

84-88 carbed = G52 or G54 tranny
85-95 EFI = W56 tranny

The W56 is a little more heavy duty.

Both use the same 21 spline, gear driven RF1A t-case.
The t-cases may be top shift or forward shift depending on application.
