TRD CAI for 2012?

So this is my first post! But I have been on the site getting great ideas from everyone. I have been looking into putting a CAI on the truck. My dealer cautioned me against using an aftermarket (aFe etc.) because of the possibility of voiding the warranty. Dont know if I agree with that but I also don't want to risk it either.

So that leaves me with the TRD CAI. But none of the parts stores online (that I can find) and my dealer's parts department have a part number for the TRD CAI that fits a 2012. So my question is has anyone installed the CAI for the 2010-2011 Part #PTR03-89100 on a 2012.

My understanding is that there is no change between those years but even the parts guy at the dealer said that there computer would list it as a part if it fit, that maybe there is a small difference.

Also what is the best price you guys have seen for the part, if it does fit?

I went through all the posts I could find on this but couldn't find the answer, so if I missed it somewhere I apologize ahead of time.

Thanks

I'm positive the AFE fits the 2012. Just installed it in my buddy's LTD. So, I feel it's safe to assume the 2011 will fit.
The reason there probably isn't a listing for the 2012 is because the C.A.R.B. number has not been "fitted" to work with 2012's yet. (California Air Resourses Board)
There is some red tape that Toyota needs to go through to get this approved for your 2012.

Whoa, whoa, whoa! You sold it to me, I installed it. I wouldn't trust you working on my truck. I've seen how you treat yours! J/K!

You are correct in assuming the 2011 TRD/AFE CAI's will work on the 2012. Get the CAI that you want don't let the dealer threaten you with BS warranty claims to get you to buy his product.

I totally agree about the dealers feeding me BS but I've only got 1000 miles and don't think it's worth the risk. I just don't want something down the road to happen and give Toyota an opportunity to get out of a warranty over something as simple as a CAI.

I really appreciate all your comments. So it sounds like the 2010-11 TRD CAI will work on a 12. Right? Has anyone actually installed one on a 12 or know with certainty it will fit?

Thanks

I have the AFE CAI on my 2012. The fit and finish are perfect! If there was any concern about the warranty you could always just re-install the factory airbox. It only took me 30-45 minutes to do the install. I could do it faster now that I know where the parts go.

Cool good to know.

Simple. Keep the stock intake, and if and I mean IF any problems were to arise, swap it back and then take it into the dealer for any problems. I too have the aFe and I love it. No problems with mine what so ever. I even got props about it at the stealership last time I was in for a complimentary service. They mentioned nothing of it voiding the warranty to me.
