TRD Pro Clunk

Still clunks

View attachment 142635

This helped, got rid of about 2/3rds of the sound. Shock push rod...really?

I had my PRO at the shop today for the 5000 mile rotation and check, different dealer than above. I explained everything, and they said they saw the case # and would check it out. I also mentioned to them to check the skid plate bolts. All was good, same clunk remains. Thanks all for the posts, I hope we get to the bottom of this.

Since the temps have dropped here this week I have now noticed the "clunk".

I now have 1200 miles on my TRD Pro so maybe something is starting to loosen up as well (?).

I thought someone figured out it was the shock "plunger" thingy doo-dad.

Okay so I don't know if this question had been raised yet about the TRD pro suspension "clunk" noise but are any of the people who had the TRD pro suspension installed on their stock 4runners having the clunk noise issue.

I have the new trd pro suspension but am waiting to have it installed until this issue is resolved.

Thanks in advance for your responses.

I installed the suspension kit in my 14 TEP had no clunking sound yet. Had it on about 1,500 miles so far and the temp has been 40 to 0 degrees here.
I don't know if this will make a difference but I have kdss and I moved the spring clip on the passenger side to the top notch to match the driver side hight.

Just had my TRD pro into dealer for 2nd time. A master tech spent a fair amount of time and could not figure out the clunking. He mentioned it sounded like a worn out suspension in a old car. The service manager put a call in to Toyota to have a service rep come and look at my TRD pro. He said they may have the pro for a couple days. Hopefully with the amount of attention this issue is getting, it will get resolved. My dealer has been very good to work with.

Clunker McClunkerson

Sounds like I am not the only one that has noticed the "clunk." Surely the engineering staff at Toyota have to have some insight into this issue. I'm guessing it's the spring in the coilovers rattling around when the spring isn't under compression. I guess I'll just have to stay tuned.

TRD PRO Clunk Case #?

Hey TRD PRO!

Are you able to post the service case/bulletin # for your vehicle so other dealerships might be able to use that as a reference?

Mine now is definitely much more noticeable as the temps here are well below zero.

I will send it to you in a PM. If anyone else think it can help them, send me a PM and I will send it to you. I don't want to post it publicly unless it goes unresolved.

TRD PRO - could I get that number as well?

I picked up my Inferno TRD Pro last week and I've got the clunk as well. I would relaly like that number for my service department (so I can go on record).

Thanks!

I picked up mine from Boch South but haven't tried them yet for service as I live closer to the Cape. I tried another local Toyota service department for the clunk and they were no help. They had never even seen one and asked who did my suspension. lol

Let me know if you guys have better luck at Boch.

I will try Ira Toyota for service (for the clunk) ... but am going to (try to) get the case number from user "TRD PRO" so that Ira can reference it. I don't want to give them my truck and let them start from scratch if they can follow the progress that TRD PRO is making with Toyota specialists (once they figure his out then the same solution can be applied to ours).

If you have trouble let me know. I have a pretty good relationship with the service manager at Fox Toyota.

I smell a SoMa/RI Meet (when the weather sucks less). Maybe at the Back Eddy in Westport. First round of steamers is on me!!

Guys, I have sent the Case # to 4 PM's I have received so far. Once your dealer has confirmed the issue they should schedule an appointment with you next time the Toyota FTS will be at their location. This way you will have a case # with TMC as an escalation.

Compared to other Toyota vehicles the TRDP's out there are a very small number so this is an effective way we can get it to the hands of the engineers to resolve this issue.

From what I have experienced so far, they have all acknowledged the issue and not tried to pass it off as normal. We shouldn't have to settle with that if that is what they are telling you. $40K is a lot of money to spend on a truck and have the suspension sound like a horse driven buggy.

Good Luck

Sent it to you in a private message.

It will be two weeks tomorrow since the Toyota FTS filed his report with TMC. I should have an update soon and some next steps. Will post what I find out.
