Trd pro lift question

Hey guys, I would really appreciate your help. I just got Toytec TRD Pro 2" lift kit installed on my TRD Pro. It looks great! So happy about it.

I had the shop adjust the alignments after they finish the install. Now Im looking straight at my front end and I can see that my tires are looking at positive camber. Is this ok??? Was this supposed to be the case of the lift? Should I go back and have the shop take a look at it and make it straight??? Thanks for your help. Joe

I'm thinking about going with the Pro Comp Level Lift Nitro Kit, 3" front and 2" rear. Anyone recommend this on my 16 TRD Pro suspension?

That definitely sounds like somebody aligned your truck wrong

It took me a few days but I read this whole thread. The Toytec lift kit FJ4RPRO seems to be the most popular in this thread but I did see that Dobinson’s makes a front spring that raises the front an inch for those that don’t want spacers. Do any other companies make a front spring that currently works with the TRD PRO suspension?

Just to update everyone. Received and installed the toytec kit today. Fits like a glove, rides great, and now I'm sitting 2 inches higher. For those that have the trdpro and want the lift without the sacrifice....this is the way to go. The front spacers are not like the others out there. It's divided into 2 (top and bottom) and reduces the compression you'd get from a traditional spacer. It's exactly what I wanted, and now 285s won't be a problem.

Did you get the aftermarket upper control arms that Toytec recommends? If not, did you have any issues with getting it aligned?

I sent an inquiry to @DobinsonsMike regarding this option and he replied that they would be in stock in about 3 months. I'll probably go the spacer route for now just to get it done soon instead of waiting.

In all of your reading did you see if the rear bump stops were required to run 285s? I read somewhere that the 285s hit the fenders at full articulation.

Another successful report of the Toytec TRDP lift and fitment of 285s. I put on 285/70/17 Cooper Discoverer STT Pros which measure at just about 33"
No rubbing on the road when braking/turning/etc, but that likely won't be the case once I hit the trails.

Did you end up having any rubbing issues when you got on the trail?

Im ordering a PRO soon. Im searching around to try and find a good lift fit for me also. Reading through this is pretty draining considering so many options lol

I’m another advocate for the Toytec lift. It lets you keep what you’re paying for in terms of the ride and how they perform, but it gives you two extra inches or so. I fit 285 KO2’s on mine, and never rub. I’ve also got my front sway bar off and even then, they’ve never rubbed while off roading. Feels like a great height, and the tire change made a huge difference both on and off road for the better. No more slipping off the line in the rain, and much better off road traction. Could be the size off road, but even in mud they do better it seems. But, that’s just me.

You've got my color!! :)

Since im just diving into the lift options i have a lot to consider. Im in MI and for me im not looking to go "muddin". Most likely it will be 2 track type woods stuff. Not to crazy. Stock height would work most likely BUT i like lifted ones.

I wasnt sure about the toytec. Did you do aftermarket upper control arms like they recommend? Thats sort of a pet peeve of mine. I dont want a questionable system. If i have to spend more $ to make sure its "bullet proof" i will. Within reason, since i wont be going ape shit with it.

Just to add in my experience I too have the Pro with the Toytec kit. I went with the SAW 1.5" rear springs instead of the Toytec 2" rears but since I don't have any extra weight in the back the 1.5" gave me 2" anyway and the rake came back a little but once I load some gear in the back to go camping etc. it levels out.

I went with 285/70/17 Load C Nitto Ridge Grapplers and have loved it!

Street ride has not been compromised, off-road performance has been awesome for what is really my daily driver. I do crawl some rocks on occasion so shielding has been an important add-on as well.

For the TRD Pro, at port they trim the front bumper edge where the wheels might rub so all I did to prevent rubbing is the inner fender liner move and I used zip ties to pull the front mud flaps back far enough and I have no rubs. No rubbing at Full Flex yet but of-course in full flex I have only been crawling.

Onto your Upper Control Arm question I have kept the factory ones and have had no noticeable issues. Everything there seems to be holding up real well. I have not been able to get an alignment around where I live as they shops claim they can't get their machines attached to my wheel with such a large bead protector on the Nitto Ridge Grappler tires. I had a good alignment before the larger Ridge Grapplers went on so I think it has held true with the new ones.

For the TRD Pro I think the Toytec kit is perfect to modify the daily driver and not have to throw away the Pro suspension components that raised the price of the package to begin with.

To also compliment on BoydsRunner with regards to the control arms, I’ve got the factory control arms, however I have been able to get an alignment with my KO2’s in the same size as his Ridge Grapplers. Mine are E Load though, and they do ride a little tougher than the stock Terra’s. However, they do feel more sure footed both on and off road than the Terra’s.

On my alignment, the only thing they haven’t been able to get back to “perfect” is the caster. Toe and Camber have been fine though, and the caster is only marginally off - very close to perfect. I haven’t done the fender liner mod or the mud flap movement, but I do not rub at all. I also do crawling and such, and I’m very happy with the setup. Didn’t change the on road ride at all which I loved, by just gave the added height. And the rear doesn’t sag too much when I have her loaded down with coolers (like, the big RTIC ones that weigh a ton when loaded) and other gear. If you want the absolute perfect alignment, I’d get control arms that can adjust more, but with stock control arms I have no issue with my ride and it still drives perfect.

Thanks both of you guys!! Exactly the info im looking for. The kit is cheap enough that I would most likely start with that to be able to utilize the upgraded factory shocks.

How much lift does that kit get again?

For me, I got the 2” lift which was about $440. I haven’t measured to see if I got any more or less, but it’s a noticeable lift. I’ll post a before and after for you. You can really notice it when you’re driving next to a stock one.

how much are you guys paying to have the toytec installed?

Where I live it cost me about $600.00 with the alignment as well. I could have done the rear spring swap myself and saved about $200.00 on the install but I ran out of time to do it before my scheduled appointment the next day.

In my experience it seems like every add-on costs around $1K in some combination of parts and self-install or parts and shop-install.

Fellow Pro owners,

What about cornfed and their custom spacers option ? That plus some dobinson coils and it seems like we land well below the Toytec price.

Thoughts ?
