Trd pro lift question

Super confused. I want the TRD Pro lift 2” but fear too much rake. I have an 80lb slim bumper add on with a warn winch. Another 70lb. So with an additional 150lb on the front will this be too raked? I have KO2 285 and currently rubs at stock once I added the wheel spacers. I want this thing level. Any opinions on what to buy?

No worries, I got you. I'd recommend out 2/1.5 for the pro and on sale. 5th Gen 4Runner Lifts & Leveling kits at Burtman Industries - on sale!

These pro kits are made to work with the stock UCA's. Nothing needs changed! 2/1.5 or 1.5/1 or can make you any custom size you want. Ride quality isn't effected.

5th Gen 4Runner Lifts & Leveling kits at Burtman Industries - kits still on sale!

Go here for lots of pics on the TRD pro, you can probably see your color truck in here with the lift:

Tried searching all over for an answer but couldn't find it, but anybody know what's the most amount of weight I can put on the front end of a TRD Pro with 2" Toytec spacer lift, without getting front end sag?

Like most TRD Pro owners, I'm running the Toytec 2" lift to retain the original suspension until I put some miles on it enough to justify a full suspension.

In the meantime, I'm looking at the SSO Slimline+Sides or the Proline R1 front bumpers. The former I believe is around 100lbs and the latter is 140lb.

Any input or experience?

Trd Pro Lift Coil Options

I wanted to post an idea and see if anyone has taken a similar route here. Currently i have the toytec 2" lift and while it's good and was the only option utilizing the trd pro struts at the time, what other non-spacer products out there to get the most of the trd pro struts.

Overall Goals -
 • Use Trd Pro struts
 • Maintain the 2.0-2.5" front lift and 1.5" rear lift
 • Replace bottom perch spacer and trd 13"x3" coil with 14"x3" coil
 • Replace 2" rear lift coil with 1.5" lift coil

Options to replace PTR13-89150-AA 13"x3" front coils with a 14"x3" Coil:

Trd: PTR13-35140-AA 3x14x600 FJ Cruiser Ultimate Trail

Trd: PTR13-35150-AA 3x14x650 Tacoma TRD Pro Coils

Wheelers 2.5 Front Coils - 650lb x 14" OR 700lb x 14" coils

I believe King Off Road also offers a 14"x3" rated for heavy loads.

Also for the front, I would most likely reuse the 1/4" top plate spacer to achieve the lift. Haven't decided on it though.

For the rear i thinking to replace the 2" RCC2.0 with the Wheelers T13, this appears to be a great option, my rear has always been much higher.

This seems like the best way to go just replacing the coils for both the front and rear while utilizing the stock trd pro bilstein struts & shocks. I don't like the idea of rebuild-able complete lift options because those don't suit my needs. I was waiting to hear about a 2" front coil replacement by a vendor but that sounds like it won't make it to the market.

What are your thoughts on upgrading the coils here?

Can anyone confirm the ratings on the trd coils: 4runner @ 550, FJ @ 600, Tacoma @ 650?

This has been asked so many times, and answered. Stock Pro 4R coil is 13”x3” at 520lbs. The FJPro spring is 14”x3” at 600lbs.

I think I might be the only only to do this specifically. I swapped the stock 4RPro spring with the FJPro spring. I got incredible height back that I had lost after adding a bumper. I will warn you this route more than likely will cause you to have to replace the stock UCAs. But I am overall happy with the look and it rides great on and off road. I’ll post pictures later if you need to see some.

Just asked to confirm the spring rates, I've read different numbers as there's misinformation out there. I'd love to see pictures of your truck, did you use any other spacers on the front or just the 4runner trd pro strut and the FJ Pro coils? Maybe the tacoma coils would be best for heavier loads since I read they're 650 rated.

I have tested it both ways, I started with the stock metal perch with the top hat spacer from the Toytec kit (still had a noticeable factory rake). I am now using the bottom 1" Toytec perch and the top hat spacer. Rake is pretty much gone as I don't tow or load up the rear for long trips. Last I measured with the 285s I was at 39" (ground to fender center) up front and 39-1/4" rear.

FYI I am running the 1.5" SAWs in the rear, which many have reported sit more around 2.25" unloaded.

Great Pics, my proposed idea/plan is to remove the toytec bottom perch spacer and replace 3"x13" with the 3"x14" coils to keep around the same front lift and replace the 2" coils in the rear with the T13 coils. This should produce a 2"+/- in the front and 1.5"+/- in the rear. My goal is to get to where the PRO lift should have been from the factory, I do remember the prototype pics back in 2014 and that was definitely higher than a 1" lift.

Just to bounce another scenario off this idea, if I currently had the Toytec 2" kit on my TRDP but wanted to add a new front bumper without introducing front sag, would it be a reasonable idea to just swap the front to the FJ 600lb 14" spring while keeping everything else the same?

I like the current lift I have, and prefer having rake.

It is similar to what happened to my Toytec lift after putting on my semi hidden bumper. The bumper w/ winch was approximately 200lbs, and I lost almost 1-1/4" of the toytec lift afterwards.

If you go full bumper and swap the FJPro swing in at 14"x3" 600lbs without the Toytec Pro kit you should already be well over an 1" from factory Pro height and adding back in the Toytec Pro lift pieces to really dial it in.

With mine I have the full Toytec Pro lift and the FJPro spring and I would say I am a well over 3" in the front over the stock Pro height.

Too many pages and don't have enough time to read through everything lol im a little new to this whole thing but hoping someone could provide me some helpful info...

I ordered a C4 lo-pro bumper for my pro, with the winch I expect to be adding about 150 lbs or so to the front. I also just ordered the Toytec spacer lift... should I go a different route? I wanted enough lift to put 285's on and don't mind minimal rake, but would also be nice to level it out. Should I consider going a different route? or only use the front spacers? I wanted to try to keep the TRD Pro suspension for a while as I paid for it before I swap it.

Like r1verf3nix said above, I don't think there is an easy "plug-in" solution for this. The stock springs can't handle the kind of weight you are putting on the front of the truck. It will either ruin the ride and/or sag the heck out of the front. That's the dilemma I'm having with the Toytec.

If I could do everything again, I'd probably order a Stage 2 Icon kit and call it a day. In terms of cost, doing the Toytec 2" spacer lift, new UCA's, swapping out new springs, two alignments, install cost and time, it's probably not muc cheaper than just getting a dedicated Icon setup all at once.

Just my 2 cents.

*edit* nevermind everything that I thought of, after more thought just made no sense lol...

new post... if I don't even use the spacer kit, can I just add in FJ springs along with the extra load in the front bumper to maybe just level it out?

Just swapping the FJPro spring for the stock 4RPro spring will give you an inch in spring length plus the weight difference. When I did it I got almost 2" just with the difference in the spring weight abilities. My numbers won't be your numbers as the weight of each car is different, but it should get you close even with a bumper added on.

What about..

I just got my 2019 Trd Pro and I’m in the same boat. What about adding the 1” Dobinson coil plus Cornfed spacer to get to 2”. Than 1.5” rear Dobinson coil?

Read all of your previous posts and it makes perfect sense. Only question I've got is where do you get the FJ Pro springs? I looked up the part # on several dealer websites, Google, etc and I'm not coming up with anything. TIA... Nice truck, looks great!

jlaviano I like your approach and great looking lift combination. Just one off, so the Tacoma TRD Pro is #600 but the Tacoma TRD Baja edition is #650 which is really rare to find. It's easier to procure Kings in 3x14 in #650 and #700. I have a set of Kings #650 I powercoated in TRD red. I will have my FJ Pro Springs available after my winch install, just watch the sales thread until then please no PM's about selling them yet.

After rereading your posts a few times, my understanding is that if I add the FJ Pro springs on to my stock TRD Pro 4runner it might give me a approximate lift of 2 inches over my TRD pro springs (approx. 1 inch from going from 13 to 14 inch springs and approx. another inch from the weight abilities.) That would make it approx. 3 inches of lift over a stock Non-TRD Pro 4runner. Am I reading in to this correctly or am I just making this even more confusing?

You will get the 1" in height in the difference in the length yes.

Then, you will get the difference in height in whatever the difference is on your rig with the current stock 4RPro spring which is approximately 520lbs and the new FJPro spring which is approximately 600lbs.

My process went, stock height.

Added toytec 2" kit, only got about 1-3/4" of front lift over stock Pro height.

Added ~200lbs with warn front hidden bumper with winch. Dropped the front almost an inch to around 3/4" over stock Pro height.

Swapped the 4RPro spring with the FJPro spring, got the lost inch back plus some and right now I am right around 3-1/4" over the stock pro height. AND I had to add Icon UC arms to get within factory specs in alignment.

Got it. Might have to try it as they are only $95. Thank you.
