Trd pro lift question

Have you considered the Eibach Pro Truck Lift Kit (Stage 1)? It give you 2.75” up front and 1” in the rear. It looks great and is very functional. I say check them out, for the money, you cant go wrong.

Thanks for the suggestion. The reason I want the FJ/Dobinsons springs is because of the front bumper/winch i have and the rear armor I intend to buy; those springs have a higher rate to handle the extra weight. I'll check the Eibach's out though!

For some reason I thought you were an already lifted post modified trd pro. If you don't have many miles on your trd pro front shocks you can always upgrade just the springs to 3"x14" #600/#650 from the 3"x13" and maybe add a top hat spacer.
Dobinsons are nice, they are like the new OME on the block.
Eibachs are nice but they will be hard to stuff 295 in them. They would work with 285/70
The rear 1 inch springs would need upgraded to something a little taller imo for the right inspired look he is trying to achieve.

Is there a difference between the 4r and fj bilstein strut besides the spring rate?

I’m looking to lift my pro soon. Tia!

I’ve been doing a lot of reading on lifting my pro.

The reason I ask is because I currently have 4r pro suspension and fjpro suspension as a spare.

Since I have a sso front bumper and warn winch up front, I’m leaning towards a heavier spring 650 (bilstein) in front but debating which shock I should use the new springs that would benefit the front, 4r or fj?

I will also be installing the toytec 2” lift and icon delta joints uca.

What do ya think?

I would use the 14" FJ coil on the original 4R shock to replace the 13" coil. See where that gets you and tweak it from there.

Fj trd spring is only 600#, good luck finding Tacoma Baja edition trd 650# springs. I suggest locating a set of king or icon in 3x14 in 650# with all that weight. I seen more trd springs sag with additional weight. Not all springs are created equal. 700 are pretty harsh from what my Tacoma 6112 guys tell me even with front end weight.

Another thing I only seen 6112 offered in 600 or 700# depending on front end weight.
It would be safer to go with 600 or 650# for TRD PRO style struts, they were never really designed for 700 since 6112 7 notches model came out much later. When I had the FJ trd pro suspension they told me 650 would be safer route due to the valving; I wanted their expertise advise since my googlefu came up no information verifying the route I was thinking about going so I called them to see what the Bilstein tech thought about it.
I ended up installing a new set of 6112 off Craigslist for $400 and used 650# kings and sold BAYOUpro my 600 Bilsteins springs, sold my FJ TRD PRO strut towers to my local discount tire manager for his 2nd gen Tacoma. I pretty much came out ahead at the end. I'm much happier with my 6112, maybe going 50 pounds heavier springs helped but definitely valving or just having more spring perch options designed for the valving greatly improved the ride. I ALSO added the c4 and winch so about 120# more front weight. Sorry for the long read just wanted to be thorough.

Okay guys, one last question....

So I have a 2015 TRD PRO and I feel I'll be happy with keeping the Shocks and just changing the springs to achieve 2" of lift. Do you think another 5 years on the TRD PRO shocks is possible?

If not, I'll probably just go ahead and buy a full Dobinsons Suspension (Springs and Shocks).

The 4Runner is my Daily and doesn't get used hard. I'm just looking to lift for the yearly camping/offroad trip and to accommodate the extra weight I'm putting on the vehicle.

*this response is very dependent one your individual use*
There shouldn't realistically be a reason why your shocks if they are in good condition now and you don't abuse them wouldn't make it more years. They don't come with a mileage rating but like any shock they don't just go out unless there is an outside environmental reason.

Question

17 TRD Pro here with stock Bilstein suspension -- front has Toytec spacers and rear has 2" lifted springs.

Center cap to center fender measurements:

Front:
D 22.00"
P 22.75"

Rear:
D 24.25"
P 25.00"

Have Warn "Semi-Hidden kit" Bumper to factor into added weight on front. No winch. Also, driver spring perch is on the bottom clip, passenger spring perch on top clip. Isn't this backwards? It doesn't seem normal to be 3/4" off between driver and passenger sides.

After reading this thread, I figure that I should go with 14" x 3" 600lb springs to give me more lift up front and reduce/eliminate the rake. Ideally, I'd rather not have the spacers but I think removing them with the upgraded spring will put me back where I am now? Thanks in advance!

DS lower spring clip belongs on the top setting, PS lower spring seat clip belongs on the bottom. Look at the shocks, they are labeled DS and PS I believe. I have the same ToyTec lower spring seat on my Pro shocks under my 2016 and the front sits dead level side to side. There is no lean at all front or rear. Rear is has a taller spacer on the DS to compensate.

I can custom make you guys just about any size you want as well. Order link above.

Way too much negative rake with the 2/1 Need at least 1.5" in the back if going 2" up front.

Cool. And that's another reason we do any custom size you can think of. But some people still want some rake, many travel and put people in the back seats, or have the cargo area loaded, or tow, etc, so then it's riding level when loaded and not sagging in the back. The best part is, I can have it made in any size to fine tune the exact look someone may want. But I do sell a lot of the 2/1.5 also.

I said negative rake, not positive rake. With the 2/1 the back is lower than the front, every single time.

if i have the TRD pro suspension and toytec 2'' kit

for the front this means 1'' bottom spacer and 0.5'' top hat spacer = 2'' in the front. If i wanted like an additional 0.5-0.75 inch in the front...does any company make a 0.75'' top hat spacer so i can get extra ~0.5'' in the front?

You don't want to do that. The Pro sits .75" higher in the front from the factory over any other model. Going up 2" in the front brings you to 2.75 over say an SR5 That's already pushing it on stock upper control arms. Adding more will do a number on CV shaft angles as well which is a bad idea. 3" total is about max on the CV shafts.

What is you goal? I'm running a modified ToyTec kit on mine. Mine is an SR5 with the pro suspension. I am 2.5" over stock up front and I run a 295 problem free.
