Final update:
For those of you speculating that I wrecked the truck, there are cameras at a local school and a dam entrance that I am certain has footage. That willl prove that the vehicle was unscathed when I got home. They require LAPD to release the footage. The detective claims he contacted the school, but not the dam and there was no footage. I don't believe him. The vehicle was found 1 week after it was stolen. It was involved in a several vehicle hit and run with parked cars. There were no witnesses. However, other insurance companies have contacted my insurance company regarding the damages. I have not seen the police report. The police did not dust for prints. I was told this happens when suspects wipe down the vehicle.
When I visited the vehicle, it smelled like booze inside. I was able to take pictures of fingerprints on the inside of the rear passenger door handle. I'm sure there is DNA on the bags. But unless you have suspects to link it to, I don't think it would be useful. Inside the vehicle, there were items that did not belong to me. There were vehicle maintenance receipts of a Prius that was done by Hamer Toyota. I've brought the 4Runner to Hamer only once. There were also notebooks and scientific calculators as well. I also found a house key. The detective did not seem very interested in my findings. The detective stated they will not be further investigating. I informed the insurance company about my findings and gave them the detective's information.
Fastforward to last friday....my insurance claim has been settled. Fortunately, everything was covered including sales tax and dmv fees. I'm even getting a little bit back. My losses were less than what I thought were gonna be.
Once again, thank you to the T4R community for your support.
