TrueTracs in 01-02 with TRAC?

Anyone running a '00 or '01 or '02 T4R with a TrueTrac? With the center diff locked, and VSC off, but TRAC still on, how did TRAC do at limiting any wheel spin so the TT could do it's torque biasing thing?

As a followup... has anyone done any crawling or wheeling with a TrueTrac in a '00 or '01, and how did the TRAC do if you lifted a wheel?

Maybe. It worked better than open diffed 4runners I was wheeling with in certain situations.
When you lift a wheel it will act just like an open diff. Don't be fooled thinking you can work the brake pedal and lock it up.
It's great for snow and sand. There is a reason I pulled it for an ARB air locker.

The whole point of my question has to do with how well TRAC did at stopping the spin of the lifted wheel so the TrueTrac could transfer power to the non-lifted wheel. I'm not sure I understand your reply. Did that combination of TRAC + TrueTrac work OK? I understand it would not be as "good" as a selectable locker for hard core off-road use.

If you lift a wheel, it becomes an open diff. Trac didn't help. If you aren't big into rock crawling, then I would recommend it. Actually I wouldn't recommend it for rock crawling at all.

Wow. OK. :wtf: I thought that was the whole idea behind TRAC.

just a side comment here. 2000 MY 4Runners didn't have VSC/Trac. That was only available in the 2001-2002 MY 4Runners.

I installed one rear only on my 02 and it made a big difference wheels on ground. TRAC didn’t kick in nearly as much. Mud, snow gravel.

Not a locker but a very good upgrade.
