Trying to fit 275/70R17 spare

It kinda fits, but not really. It won't fit on the curved spare "brace", so I have it wedged on the cross member that the curved brace is connected to. It's obviously very close to my panhard bar. Do y'all think this will be okay off-road? This is a 275/70R17 KO2 at 11/32 on a FJ steelie rim. The psi is at 45, I might try airing it down tomorrow and see if it fits any better.

On my Dodge truck, the summer spare tire is stored at zero psi. Only way it fits. I also have on board air.

I've been eyeing these tires, hate that they're only E-load, but probably going to have to live with a little sag or air down to avoid metal work...? I might go 265/70/17 to get C-load.

Would you mind posting a picture of your tow package? I've read some interfere more than others. Thanks, good luck,

I'd say it will probably be fine, if it's wedged in there tight and not moving then it shouldn't bump the panhard much as that will not wiggle side to side much.

This post has answered many of my fitment ???'s. I was wanting to put 285's on my 04SE but wanted a full size spare as well. I've looked at space in spare (running 265's now) and I "might" have an inch to spare. My concern was also how the tire would impact the Panhard bar.

The only question remaining is how "stiff" are the E-rated BFGATKO2 and how is the ride? If it's really bad what would be the 2nd choice (Cooper AT3??) of tires in a C-rated 275 or would it be better to go C-rated in a 265 and then choose between Duratracs and BFG in a C-rated tire.

To be honest I probably won't buy E rated KO2s again. They were originally on my wife's stock 5th gen SR5. They were horrible in the rain. Also having the E rated on stock suspension gave unfavorable handling. Now that they are on my full time 4x4 4th gen with 5100s they ride and drive alot better though.

I just got the BFG KO2 in size 255/75/17 C-rated. True 32", spare fits without any problem and drives great on and off-road.

Did you pull the tire towards you while cranking it up? Ie towards the hitch? Have a 285/70/17 Duratrac in my spare location which tends to run larger and it still clears the oanhard bar by a good amount. You want to make sure the panhard bar can cycle freely.

This is a 285/70/17 Duratrac with still plenty of room for the panhard bar.

I just got 255/75R17 tires and my spare doesn't fit at all. I was hoping it would. I do have the V8 with the tow package. I hope it fits after my first rotation. Any suggestions on what to do with the spare in the meantime. Right now I am keeping it in the trunk.

I have an 06 Limited V8, factory hitch, using a slightly used 255/75-17 @ 35 psi, on an OEM Tacoma alloy, as a spare, in the OEM location.

About 3/4 inch to spare to hit the pan hard.

The thing is I saw several people who had the V8 hitch get this size mounted. I am hoping once I get some wear it will fit. I think it is barely hitting and once it clears I will be able to snug get it in a better position. These tires were also alot bigger that I thought they would be. They are noticeably taller than my old 265/70s and with those I had about 3/4" to 1" clearance between spare and panhard bar.

I have a 275-70-17 KO2 Spare that has about 1/4 Tread left and I have about 1/8" Clearance to the Panhard Bar. Very Tight fit.

I have a V8 with 255/80 and it wasn't even close, even with all the air out of it. I went with the roof rack mount for mine, while I wait for a CBI rear bumper.
