If someone shatters the rear window, wouldn't the alarm go off anyway?

If someone shatters the rear window and then presses the red button, it won't open anyway. Similar to how OP said dogs noses can't open it while driving because when you are driving, the truck locks. It's like trying to press the button on the outside of the hatch grab area when it's locked. It just won't open.

I would think anyone who is going around shattering out your window will either a: know exactly what they're doing anyway and figure out how to do whatever it is they want anyway or b: not know that a small red button on the inside of your rear hatch is for and is a security vulnerability

You’ve got a point there. The rocker switch is infact tricking the car to think that the key was turned (this is why the window goes up and down) . I’m not sure how the alarm disarming with keys works in this particular car but either way alarms don’t do anything anymore.

The window up/down button also locks/unlocks all doors. I find that to be a nice feature. But, as noted in another post, it's not a security concern any more than the regular door lock / inner handle on a passenger door.

when you try and use the unlock switch from the front door it may not work. like the switch is dead. if you manually open it, it will open but the door pin switch will set the alarm off. the door switch is not disarming the security system.

so to break into the truck via front drivers door. one will jam a screw driver under the door handle on the outside right under the lock. you will try to get to the factory micro switch that is at the end of the tumbler.

whats happened in the rear, i believe it is going directly to the rear window module and sending it a ground to disarm the system thus rolling the rear window down.

I used 12 gauge wire to snake the wires into the hatch. I started at the bottom of the hatch going to the top. I pulled the hatch down a bit and I could see the wire easiest. I had to do it twice, I had the wires go around the rear door strut.

I always sleep head toward the front of the vehicle. Not sure why, just feels better though lol

Generally depends on the angle of the ground I'm parked on. I don't want my head lower than my torso. So I lie in the direction that facilitates this. But my druthers is head facing in, just seems safer somehow, and I try to find a parking spot to facilitate this.

Looking at the setup photo, you could make it a little cleaner with only one cable coming out of the hobby box. Eliminate the second cable that contains the ground wire by using a 4 conductor cable instead.

I considered that, problem is I'd have to strip the jacketing say 5' from the box and pull the ground wire. I would have another 10' or so of cable after that and it would be a pain to pull that cable if at all possible. I could leave the additional strand in the run and just splice, but it would make it even harder to run the cable if it has a larger OD. I wish it would work easily! Maybe I can do a splice with two different cables?

Thanks for this Kit. the instructions were very good and clear and the install was pretty simple. just takes time and patience to do it cleanly.

I did redo a few of the connections and change everything to heat shrink tubing, but thats only because I am OCD about electrical work and hate electrical tape.

The instructions are truly what make this kit worth it.
