I considered that, problem is I'd have to strip the jacketing say 5' from the box and pull the ground wire. I would have another 10' or so of cable after that and it would be a pain to pull that cable if at all possible. I could leave the additional strand in the run and just splice, but it would make it even harder to run the cable if it has a larger OD. I wish it would work easily! Maybe I can do a splice with two different cables?

1. Is the Ground wire separate from the bundle in order to connect it to a ground lug behind the jack/tool compartment?
2. Is that the only place you can pick up a ground connection?
3. Isn’t there a ground you can tap into in the hatch door near the other wire connections? If so, couldn’t you make the ground connection there (find a lug or ground wire) and run it back to the switch and push button in the box? Then you could use one four-wire cable for all your connections.

Maybe I’m imagining this incorrectly. Can you send a diagram/schematic?

I think the biggest value in this kit is not in the parts, but the testing and hunting for pinouts as well as the well written instructions he has made on how to get it done.

The amount of time it saved me from figuring all of that out is well worth it. The parts and setup he provides also function well.

So at the risk of making enemies here on my first day on this site... :laser:

So I was quite disappointed at first when I came to not only this site, but a few other online resources including a few YouTube videos. Several individuals seemed to have reverse engineered the wiring to make this possible, but they were (as many of you already know and have been fighting over) hoarding the information in order to push their homemade kits and instructions. Now I totally get it! Someone put in time and effort and then designed a product to sell. I myself am an engineer and I know what it takes to get this stuff done. At the end of the day, the work is not complex, its just time consuming. I was pretty upset that this community that I joined today seemed less about being a community and helping each other and more about trying to make a quick buck. So at the risk of creating enemies, I reverse engineered my 2018 today and also payed for the Toyota schematics which I will attach here. There is nothing wrong with creating a great easy to install product, and it looks like the OP has done a great job and many people will buy his kit an appreciate the work he put into it, but seriously... At the very least, opensource the wiring... To hopefully put this to rest, I have attached everything you should need to attempt this yourself. I hope that more people will pay it forward in the future.

Ignore the scratches on my panel near the button... Old marks made by some gear in the back jumbling around. You should be able to see in the pictures which plug on the 2018 I tapped into. According to the Toyota schematics, its pin 7 and 24 (green and grey wire) for the door release latch. I used all Teflon wiring and heat shrunk everything for a nice factory look.

Just a heads up to everyone, these kits will now have a new switch. My switch vendor has stopped producing the arrow switches. The new switch is the same size, but has a different geometry (one side is scalloped). See picture below- I actually believe this switch feels a lot better and is probably more inconspicuous versus the arrows.

I ordered the original kit with the circular push button....any chance to get the new switches with hobby box? Will it be the same wiring and install, etc? I never got around to installing the original kit and like the hobby box much better
