Searched all through these forums and no mention of this:

When you put these scion head units into 4runners do you need the anti-theft code? Will they work without them? I just bought a t1819 on ebay and it has no code. What's the deal here?

I've been looking for a central resource for the Scion head units with no success.

After hours of searching on 4Runner and other Toyota forums, I've created a master list of all the head units (at least the ones I could find information on) and their capabilities. I'n sure I'm still missing information about each head unit, so feel free to post any udpates you know about and I'll be happy add them to the list.

I'd like to eventually get pics of each of the units as well (front and back), so if you have a particular unit, send me the image link and I'll post it as well.



The T1804 (Part# 08600-21800)

• older '04 - '05 single disk
• no knob, just buttons in the middle
• Plays MP3s and WMA
• SAT ready
• NO Ipod connectivity

The T1805

• 6-disk version of the 1804
• has the color changing LCD.
• CD player in this unit is know to have problems, especially if shipped incorrectly.

The T1806 (Part# PT546-00080)

• upgraded '05 - '06 model
• two knobs
• single disk
• has the color changing LCD
• plays MP3s and WMAs
• Aux input via harness
• has ipod controllability

The T1807

• '05 - '06 base model
• volume knob at center, with buttons on the sides
• plays MP3s and WMAs
• Aux input
• no ipod ability
• has Aux connection via harness (not sure if it’s the same as the 4Runner harness)
• Aux button on face

The T1808

• the current base model
• similar features to the 1806, but it has a new control layout
• Aux input unclear (some on the 4th gen 4runner boards report they can’t get the Aux input to work)
• added AAC playback.

The T1809 (Part# PT546-00081)

• the new upgraded (premium) radio
• single CD
• iPod compatible
• Aux Input (not sure if it’s the same as the 4Runner harness)
• multi-color Organic Electro-Luminescent display (OEL) for which you can upload different skins/graphics.

There are no lock codes for ANY of the Scion H/U's.

ok. which model has a built in amp? which models have color options? i just installed a new power antenna on my 01. will i loose it being that these only have one jack for antenna? there are lots of comments but no clarity. please inform via PM or email me at [email protected].

Has anyone put one of the newer scion head units in a 3rd gen? I was looking at aftermarket HUs but I like the thought of using Toyota parts by going with the Scion ones.

Things I need: currently have an iphone 5, want to keep that connectivity working. Aux cable at minimum, if not a direct lightning cable connection (even if just through a USB through the front of the HU, dont necessarily need wires coming up through the center console or glove box or anything like that).

Possibly/probably upgrading stock door/rear speakers at the same time, any particular recommendations?

I just did the T1819 install in my 2008; it went in like butter thanks to the info on this thread! Didn't do the USB cable, but BT phone and audio work great, dimmer, steering wheel controls, HD radio with good reception, armrest aux input, and it definitely sounds better than the stock radio.

If anyone's doing 4th gen T1819, like people here say you need at least those three cables listed:

28 pin harness- PT546-00120-CH
Antenna Adapter- PT546-00120-AD
Bluetooth- PT546-74120-MC

For Bluetooth and basic operation.

Add these antenna adapters, if you don't have them from elsewhere:
Amazon.com: Metra 40-GM12 GM Antenna Adapter (Barbless): Car Electronics
Amazon.com: Metra 40-UV43 Male to Female Motorola Antenna Cable: Car Electronics

Not a wire was cut, no tweaking anything, just plug it all together, fire it up, and find the pairing menu.

Helping to raise the dead but I just found this thread and was looking at doing this swap. I'm a little curious about a few things. Generally how much did those who installed the t1819 spend all together? I'm looking at this, but with adapters, etc. it looks like it'll be over $200? Any suggestions where to get the harness, antenna, etc?

This is a general question because I'm also looking at the t1809, but when you've got an iPod/iPhone connected to the adapter cable can you still control the device from the device itself or just through the head unit? I usually use my phone to stream spotify but I don't think this will work if I can only control it through the HU.

I did spend over $200. I think the T1819 was $120 on ebay (couldn't find one that came with cables), and the three cables I listed came to $121 including shipping from Toyota of Dallas website. Note that I did not get the USB cable as I don't need it, so that would raise the price further.

Can't answer the ipod/iphone connected question. I use Pandora/Bluetooth/iphone5, and that works well, with the head unit controlling the phone. And use straight-up audio aux in for my portable Sirius receiver, which works fine but obviously the HU doesn't control the Sirius box in that configuration.

My only complaint is I can't get voice dialing/control to pass through to the phone. I have to hit the button on the phone to enable voice control, then everything works normally.

Sorry if this has been brought up before somewhere, but if it has I can't find it.

I just joined the forum as a part of a 2004 Sport purchase. First thing I'd like to change is to add BT and iPhone hookup to the stereo, but I'm not a big fan of aftermarket as I've had my car broken into a couple times. I'm wanting to go this route, but can't find if it's compatible with the JBL Synthesizer? If not directly, is there a converter I can add?

Just to throw my $.02 in here, this install is EASY!!! I tuned in to a youtube vid that shows how to take apart the dash w/o damage. Super easy. The T1819 fits as well as stock. Sounds great too. Thanks for all the help guys!

I have a couple questions on the newer radios: Anyone have preferences between the T1819 and the FRS radio?
Is there any difference between the T1819 and the T10004? Visually they look the same but the part numbers end in 00120 & 00130 respectively.
I'm looking to upgrade again as I had a T1808 (but that stock - still in my garage) then went to the SNS100 (touch screen scion nav).

Scion 1814 w/ Blu Logic in 2008 Sport?

I swapped in the Scion 1814 a few years back (and did the USB mod). Working great.

Now I'm looking at installing a Blu Logic bluetooth / handsfree module. Seem pretty reasonable on eBay.

Question is this... do I go with the module intended for the 1814 (Scion circa 2010) or the 2008 4Runner version?

I'm assuming the Scion module will work with the 1814, but not sure about the button size/cutout. I see lots of references to "large" and "small" buttons.

Anyone attempted this? Suggestions? Much appreciated....

I just did this install in my 2005 w/ JBL. Here's what you'll need:

PT546-00120-AD Antenna Adapter- (You'll only need the part that plugs into the antenna)
PT546-00120-CH- Accessory Harness Adapter- Steering wheel controls, etc.
Metra TYTO-01- Converts the analog output of the head unit to the digital signals the Synthesis amp is looking for.
71-1761- Reverse Wiring Harness- Allows you to plug the converter into the Scion head unit without hacking up any vehicle wiring.

Optional:
PT546-00120-US- USB/Aux Adapter
PT546-74120-MC- Bluetooth Mic, but also necessary to enable bluetooth functionality for A2DP streaming.

The install was fairly straightforward once I figured out I needed the "reverse" harness shown above. You have to solder the reverse wiring harness to the Metra converter, but it's just matching colors:

One other odd thing to keep in mind. The "amp" label in the JBL Synthesis system is somewhat of a misnomer, it's really more of a controller. When you remove the stock head unit, you HAVE to center the fade/balance, turn bass/mid/treble adjustment to zero, and turn the stock head unit to MAX before you disconnect the battery. Because the head unit in the JBL Synthesis setup does not control these functions (the "amp" does), if you leave them low, that's now your new "max" values.

Other than that, you'll also have to deal with the poor fitment with the bezel, if that bothers you. The JBL head units are a different shape than the normal ones, so the Scion head units don't fill up the bezel quite as well. You'll either need to source a non-JBL bezel or make an adapter ring.

The 28 pin harness is called Audio CD Deck, same part #, different name. Just wondering if this is correct? Thanks!!

worth noting on the fitment, do you have a limited? i have an '05 SR5 that has the upgraded JBL option. I believe that these scion units will fit directly in trucks that are not limiteds, but have the JBL option.

I have a sport edition. Near as I can figure, it's 100% related to the JBL or non-JBL head units.

i learned of this difference as i purchased an 06 JBL unit, but didnt realize that it would not fit because of hte differences in the center console bezel.

that is so weird. i have an SR5 with JBL, but the top of my HVAC does not go straight up like yours does, it slopes back like below.

I assume your stereo looked like this picture, with the top of your HVAC going straight up...
