Unhooked black ground on transmission?

So I had my truck up on a lift a few weeks ago and my mechanic pointed out what looked like a black wire that looked like a ground wire disconnected just kind of hanging by the transmission housing. He wasn't sure what it was and neither do I, any idea?

That would be too easy now wouldn't it? Lol, no I wish I'd thought to take one, just figured I'd Google it later...which yielded zero answers.

Where in the transmission housing? Where it meets the engine? Transfer? Driver side? Passenger?

It was hanging around the side of where it meets the engine, seems like there was one on the driver and passenger side of the casing...sorry it's so vague.

How about I rephrase my question...what black wires would be able to be hanging around the transmission casing visible from the bottom close to the engine?

Hmmm have you followed the other end of the wire? That's your best bet I think
