Update on Ebay Problem

Who the heck knows what models it will fit? The seller doesn't even seem to know based on the response received by someone else who posted a reply to this thread. Just stay away from the seller. The seller just indicated on his listing that it would fit the 03 to 06 model years with no reference to the type of engine or hitch.

Definately there should be a resolution for you to return the product and the seller pick up half of the shipping costs for it to be fair. It's not your fault it doesn't explicitly says it will not work with a V8 4Runner. Until there is an acceptable resolution for you, it's buyer beware.

By the way, the guard can be made to work, just going to take a couple of hours of work to do some cutting of the hitch ends and modification to the brackets.

So you got it to work with the weught distribution hitch???

Can you privide more info, and maybe a pic?

I never bothered modifying the guard, too much hassle. I just sold it to a guy locally who had a V6 and it worked perfectly for him.

Would still like to buy a rear bumper guard, but after my experience I am cautious of the same thing happening again.

eBay and PayPal have a racket going in that they dont have to adhere to the same standards that banks do.

I had a buyer reverse payment with their bank after receiving the product I sent them, and ebay/paypal were fine with that.

Many people know how to "game" this system to the detriment of honest people.

Even lawyers avoid eBay like the plague, which tells you a lot about this system!

The seller did have a 100% rating, but ratings are a bit meaningless in my opinion. Since most sellers do not leave feedback right away (which they should since all I can do as a buyer is pay promptly), they hold you hostage with the feedback; i.e. I will leave you good feedback if you leave me good feedback. In the case at hand, I have not left negative feedback yet as I know the seller will ding me and I will lose my perfect rating.

When I went to my paypal account to see if I could restart the complaint process, no luck as I was just referred to the closed case. I figured paypal would not help me, now I am anxious to hear from my credit card issuer. He has 122 feedback, why all positive? Where is ur negative feedback lol... Anyways, thats not enough. I almost always buy from a powerseller and whatnot... Someone who has been in the ebay business for a long time and doesnt mess around.

If you waive your right to contest via your credit card then that is new as that is exactly what I did and won. I would hope that one's credit card issuer would stand up and go to bat for you against a crappy outfit like paypal. I just presented a very thorough case, well documented, good pictures, and I guess that is why I prevailed.
