Upper Control Arms - Brands

Hi Chas,
Do you have the SPC's for the gen3 4runner and do the UCA's come with the ball joints & bushings etc? Finally! Would you ship to the UK & if so, what would the total cost be?
Thanks in advance
James

Hey James,

We do offer the SPC arms and they come complete with bushings and ball-joints installed.

Prices for the arms are on the site. Ive PM'ed you regarding shipping overseas!

Here is one on a 99 with the new 6112 shocks.

Don't forget about JBA. They are exactly what you need for a lifted everyday truck. None of that billet bling bling, or the uniball/heim joint wannabe race truck stuff.

Thanks for the heads up.

I've looked on the JBA site, but couldn't see any that were described as fitting a 1996 - 2002 4runner. The JBA ones don't seem o have any adjustment in them either, or am i missing something here?

Thanks again.

James

I think it's worth adding here for future buyers that I did have a failure on day 2 with a set of Ebay UCAs. They are the clones of the Total Chaos. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/227005-ebay-uniball-ucas-warning-w-pics.html

Due to the materials used you should expect the ebay ones to fail if you torque them to the recommended amount. The cast material mine were shipped with will fail at around 10,000lbs of clamping force and the torque puts you at about 11,000lbs of clamping force. If you buy them - spend the extra $100 on a set of quality misalignment spacers from Dirt King or others. I suspect they would be serviceable with that replaced. Otherwise IMO they are quite dangerous. If you have any further questions please ask on my other thread. I don't want to derail this other than giving a bit of warning to anyone thinking about the ebay ones from Jennifer Fan of California selling under a bunch of different ebay names.

I'm not sure if they do, but this thread is in the 5th gen section.

You are right that they are non-adjustable, but keep in mind that a regular alignment shop is not going to mess with you UCA adjustments anyway. They are just going to use the normal adjusters. The JBA arms are set to compensate for lift and also prevent contact with the spring. I asked the shop to leave the caster as high as possible while keeping camber in spec, and ended up with +6 caster. Stock is +4 and they could have set it there too if I had wanted.

What UCA'a do you all recommend for a 3" toytec lift? I might be squeezing in some larger tires and I want to make room to avoid having to do a body mount chop.

Thanks

SPC uca from amazon 360.00 they now play the change price game. I intially got it for 450, saw the change and returned it back to their ass. Installed with Toytec Boss 3" kit. My 33"x 11.5" ridge grapplers fit just fine.

so, with this new greasable type ball joint SPC is using now, where is the outflow from that zerk fitting? that main bolt would have to be hollow for the grease to go anywhere...that would be a huge concern for me since this is one of two points which actually keep the wheel/tire attached to the truck. losing either this point of contact, or the other point at the LCA/steering knuckle is catastrophic is speed, and really, really shitty at low speeds. there is a reason this is usually a huge grade 8 bolt and stainless fittings on other aftermarket brands

It's a standard ball joint so if you force grease in, it should purge the old grease from the grease relief valve (found where the boot contacts the stud).

How often are they going down to 360? I need Uppers but have been waiting for a deal to come out.

I dont know when amazon started the price game but yes, not two days after my purchase it dropped to 360. Sent amazon email and they stated they cant Give me the new 360 price so Next day i sent it back and reordered. Same with Nfab nerf bars but not by much 10.00 less days later. And kept them. When buying on amazon look at the other sellers also for better price and free shipping. As of now they got em at 418.

Thanks for the info. I've been watching them at 418 but since you said they have been down to as low as 360 I am going to wait to pull the trigger. 60 bucks it 60 bucks.

SPC. I'm on my 2nd consecutive set from two vehicles (2012 Taco 4x4 & 2015 4Runner Trail) No complaints here

Bought mine for 360 shipped on Prime too. But that was back in September. No idea how often they drop the price on them.

Here's a page showing several of the best options for upper control arms, including Camburg, ICON, Rokeman and Total Chaos UCAs. From Wheeler's Off-Road. I'm not promoting WOR, it's just one page showing several of the best UCA.
https://wheelersoffroad.com/product...spension-17969/control-arms-suspension-17969/

Camburg offers a larger, 1 ¼" Uniball. Not sure if these also include caster and camber adjusting rod ends. $664

The Camburg website:

ICON aluminum billet arms have lots of adjustment, even when mounted on the vehicle. About twice the price, $1318.
The ICON website:
ICON 2010-UP Toyota 4Runner Performance Suspension Systems & Shock Absorbers - ICON Vehicle Dynamics

Rokeman UCA offers adjustment at the rod ends. This one appears to offer the most bang for the buck, IMHO. $750
https://www.rokmen.com/toyota/4runn...oyota-adjustable-upper-control-arms-544.html#

Total Chaos with the Urethane Pivot appears to allow for adjustment of the entire arm to fore and aft with bolted bushings. $685
They also offer a Heim Joint Pivot for more adjustment, plus a lower control arm.
TOTAL CHAOS FABRICATION - 2007+ FJ Cruiser 2WD & 4WD 2003+ 4Runner 2WD & 4WD Upper Control Arm Suspension Kit

Dirt King looks like the strongest UCA, though I don't know how much strength is needed for my style of desert exploration.
The UCA the Heimed Upper Control Arms joints offer adjustment at the inner pivots. $750
Dirt King also makes a very interesting lower control arm.

Do you happen to have the info of the seller you got them from? Might try messaging them on Amazon and see if they can still do the 360, I'd like to order ASAP. Thanks
