USB Mod: Center Console Switch Blank

Ya'll might want to check this out. I know your 4th gens and all, but this is a pretty clean way to go.

Hey, I just bought one of these kits. Any tips on installing? Did you just use a drill with a large bit to make a round hole in the dead switch?

There's not a connector to simply plug this into; you'd have to splice 12V and find a ground location. Finding where to tap in will depend on 1) where you want to put it, and 2) whether or not you want full-time 12V or ignition on 12V.

I installed a 2-USB (1 charge, 1 audio) port in the center console, and a 12V/Voltmeter port over near the AUTO LSD button on the dash. Both are on full time; instead of tapping an existing wire, I wired a fusebox from the battery so that I could add accessories down the road if desired.

I bought two of these USB ports so I wouldn't have to use my 12V outlet.

It's the nicest looking one I could find that would fit into a blank switch location. I don't want to drill holes on the interior if at all possible. I also have the dirty parts updated dual battery switch in another blank switch spot I next to the center diff lock switch.

I'm trying to find a good location for my projecta dual battery voltage monitor.

Does anyone know of a current/amperage monitor so you can monitor your alternator output? I've found some homemade Chinese junk, but I'm looking for something accurate and well made.

Fluke is the way to go if you want quality handheld test equipment. It looks like meters that do DC current are expensive.

There are cheaper meters of a similar style that might work, but make sure it can do DC. If you want something you can install semi-permanently, I don't know about that.

Do you have a write-up of how you installed those plug ins? I just purchased this one (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B010T3CR8A?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00) and cant find a thread with instructions.
