USB Port

I noticed that the USB port doesn't work with older iPods, however, it does play mp3s off of a portable USB thumbdrive, which I didn't see discussed in the manual.

Pretty nifty, but there's a noticeable delay when browsing through the folders.

Figured I'd point that out to everyone.

Have you tried streaming the music over bluetooth? BT 2.0 or later can do this and the 4Runner can accept it :) now that beats any cables to me. Not sure on the delay though

Bluetooth wont keep the device charged. The iPod will do charging / audio over a single cable.

what all in one cable is available for the IPOD?

I admit I haven't had a chance to read through my manuals yet, and plan on opening them up this evening - in the mean time, can someone please let me know what all in one cable is available for the IPOD? Where can one purchase it? I really like the idea of having the controls on the deck controls the ipod. Next question - will this cable work on the base SR5 deck or is it only an option on the upgraded deck w/ navi?

thanks!

Use the ipod cable that came with your ipod. The vehicle has a USB port in the glovebox.

Is your older iPod at the newest software version, I have a new iPod Classic and it works fine, but I don't have an older one to try out. Most times though, they need the newest software running.

The manual says that iphones and ipods older than the 4th gen wont work. The iPod classic is newer, even though its name suggests otherwise.
