V-Leds Type2 Dual color Bulbs

SSt4r - when I had the bulb in with the lights turned off (only DRL on) the light was amber. I believe when I switched to parking and normal running lights, it switched to white. Turn signal/ Hazards - back to amber.

It was late at night so I'll re-confirm what happened once correct ones arrives. I know they went white at some point because I was surprised they didn't go white first. Found out I mis-read the original post but I wasn't concerned because they did go white at some point in my failed installation attempt.

I haven't run any additional wires...

I've sent an email off to V-LEDS seeing if I can do an exchange + the difference. These were a birthday gift from my sister-in-law... she is wanting to see pics, may need to bum a picture from El Jefe and do a little photoshop if the right ones don't come in soon.

This is all rather confusing. Even the description on v-leds website is confusing.
They say the ck bulb should be used in Toyotas because of the socket used, but then if you look further down on their notes, it says it will not work if you have factory DRLs. WTF?

I have factory DRLs and I know others w/o DRLs just switched relays to make the DRLs operate. Does anyone know if the sockets are different on the vehicles with factory DRLs versus vehicles that didn't come with DRLs?

LEDs are not as visible during the day like the regular bulbs, are people buying the 92 m-smt bulbs?

00328 - yes I believe the two sockets are different...

You can view an example of both... I linked to my socket (I have DRLs) and then look at the first post which has a pictures from El Jefe (originally didn't have DRLs)

Yep, now I see, sockets are different.
Like you, I was hoping to have white DRLs and then turn amber for turn signals. Obviously this bulb won't do that. Wish there was one.

Finished the exchange with V-LEDS and got clarification on the DRL warning...

V-LEDS

They will work in the DRL application, but will not last. The issue is the DRL circuit runs on the high element, which is the AMBER portion of this bulb. Because we need to drive that portion so much to get the brightness needed for the BLINKER it will burn out if left on in a DRL situation. It is intended for momentary use only.

Thanks for the explanation on the DRL warning. My goal was to get rid of the amber light unless the blinker was active. I'd planned on keeping my running lights on at all times, so the amber wouldn't be active. Based on my intended use and your explanation, it sounds like the light will last the "expected" amount of time - since in my case the normal operating position would be the low element or white light.

Yes, this is correct. If you bypass your DRL system by always having your lights on you can use this bulb.

So I'm going to work out the details on doing the exchange and press on.

Soooo,.......if you are going to install these LEDs and run with headlights or parking lights on all the time the DRLs will be off and your turn signals will be amber. How would this different than what the OEM bulbs do?
Just trying to understand.
You going with the 48 or 90 LED bulbs?

They should turn white when the parking lights are on. Not sure whats going to happen with the driving lights, don't remember from my first go at it. Since these were a gift I want to go ahead and get them straightened out... In hind sight this wasn't the brightest idea.

Speaking of, I'll be going the 48 LED route...

I know, still not the best idea.

They will turn white with the parking lights or head lights on IF you do the wiring mod like El Jefe. If not they will just go out. Unless your DRLs operate differently than mine.
Either way, keep us posted as to how they work out.
