V6 - converting from Auto to Manual?

Looking for someone whose done this to get an idea of parts involved and any gotcha's before starting.

Basically my auto will probably be needing a rebuild sometime in the future. Instead of dropping a bunch of cash down that hole, I'm thinking of converting it over to a 5spd. It'll help power with the 3.0 (removing the auto and power sucking tcase), gives me more flexibility if I want to swap a 3.4 into it down the road, and more options tcase's for future upgrades.

So short of finding a cheap donor with a blown hg, is there anything to watch for if I start picking up pieces a la carte? Clutch pedal and assembly, R150F, whatever tcase mates up to that, clutch itself........ what about trans support? ECU the same? Are the driveshafts the same length? etc.

thanks for any words of advice or caution....

My buddy took a '93 automatic 3.0 and converted to manual when the trans shit. It was a while ago and the details were fuzzy.

He had to rewire the thing with a manual harness. Was a pain in the ass. And put a manual ECU in too i believe. I think the rear driveline was still proper length. Couldn't say about the front because he was using a square one. It did lead to a very noticeable power increase.

For the caution, it was a big undertaking. Took him nearly two weeks in his spare time. If you're looking for an easier approach, swapping another (pos) A340 series in will be easier.
