V8 Exhaust Help

If I remember correctly I have a 22 inch magnaflow and I love it. I know u scratched magnaflow off ur list but just had to let u know my opinion with it. I get no drone on the freeway and it sounds deep when your on the throttle. I have it turned down right before the rear axle.

I have the flowmaster super forty of my vvti v8. It has very little drone and sounds aggressive when I punch it. Go look at my build thread and I have a video posted, I give it a pretty good pop a couple times in the video so it will give you a reference there. You won't be disappointed.

I have this one as well and love it!

Another one w/ 22" Magnaflow. I've used Magnaflow for years, but it sounds like from members here they've had some quality issues lately. Hate to hear that. I just added an Injen intake and man, it really woke up the Magnaflow!!!

go with borla, better made and its stainless steel, the flowmaster will be loud, even if you hate the sound(drone) at cruising.

Its Funny when I tell people I have Family in Sylacauga, Mobile, and Wetumpka Alabama. Nobody believes that Wetumpka is a Real Town.

Wetumpka, Oneonta (my old man refers to it as 1-onta), Weogufka, Opelika... The natives certainly left an impression here!

:focus:

FWIW I had the Borla Turbo (now the ProXS line) on my V6 and there was no drone at highway speeds but the ricey sound of the V6 bugged the hell out of me when doing "small driving" i.e. backing out of parking spots, pulling into traffic, and driving in neighborhoods.

I had a 1 chamber and now a 3 chamber on my V8 Silverado and never noticed the drone, I'm sure it was there with 1 and I just didn't notice it because I was young and wanted it loud. The 3 chamber doesn't drone though and has a nice mellow tone.
t4rbama has a great sounding setup on his V8 but I can't remember what he said it was... Maybe he or momo.75 will enlighten the thread with more info.

Austin said his was a Flowmaster super 40 with res delete and stock se chrome tip turned out 90 degrees. He also said it does drone at about 2200 rpm, but it's in between gears for him. After all the mods and lift since his truck doesn't like to shift at highway speeds. "It is throaty when I step on it and mild when I don't unless its in between like I said."

Out of curiosity, what are you hearing bad about Magnaflow? I think I have the #12586 and still love it. It's the 22" as I said earlier and is the biggest overall mass for the Maggie line (I think). There's a 24", but it's thinner and therefore less total mass.

Anyway either the 18", 22", or 24" would likely suit you well and you won't be disappointed. It's a cheap option as well (if you just have it welded in place of the stock muffler)

Customer Service! Treating Loyal Customers like Shit!

Just throwing it out there... How often do you need customer service from a muffler company? So the product is still good you are saying? The product can be bought from many different places and as long as the product itself is still good, that's most of the battle.

Did you have a warranty issue? Or something else? I don't blame you - I've had bad Customer Service from restaurants/etc and refused to go there any longer.

This should sum it up. http://www.toyota-4runner.org/3rd-gen-t4rs/88678-horrible-experience-magnaflow.html

Yeah that'll do it. Guess I've been lucky. If it does fail for any reason, I'm not sure what I'd go with.

A part of me wants a chambered muffler like a Flowmaster, but the deep sound of the big glasspack (essentially what Magnaflow and others are) just sounds so good when you hit the gas. But if I floor it, it's almost too loud, but at the same time not much at idle at all either.

It's Sad. They were on my Short List.

I'm loving it, quiet when you want it to be and loud but not overbearing when you step on it. Even the startup sound is heaps better.

I take that back. Sounds Bad Ass. Man that is a nice Tone. This decision is gona be harder than I thought. How is it on the highway? I am very happy I chose the V8. Can't wait to here this thing Rumble a little bit.

I went with a borla and love it 2.5" pipe and eliminated one cat and resonator with side exit behind passenger wheel. Has a nice throaty sound to it but not overbearing at all. Sounds like a v8 should.
