I was able to safely remove them from my totaled '96 using a heat gun on low setting. I cleaned the deflector's tape surface, replaced the 2x tape and put them in my '00. That was in 2013.

Yes I'm aware window tint goes on the inside. With the in channel ones you're forcing the window up into the seal more than without them making it more likely to scratch, peel, or damage the tint. People have also mentioned the glass on the outside getting scratched from the in channel ones.
Probably not a big deal to most owners here and they do look better, just putting out some things to think about.

The external ones are actually larger, allowing the window to be opened more, and potentially preventing more water incursion - no tight gaps for water to stick to and wick through

I've lost more in channel than stick on in 30 yrs I've used visors.

I like the looks of the in-channel but prefer stick-on. The reason being that not only can they impact how well the windows work (on some vehicles the windows may refuse to close (we see this in pickups in the winter all the time) the extra binding causes the auto-window reverse to kick in.
The other issue is that in-channel tend to increase wind noise, that's because they compress the window/door seals, but not everywhere on the window, where the vent starts/stops it can cause more wind noise due to poor seal in that area. In my 21' Sierra there was noticeably more wind noise with in-channel vents than stick on.

AVS quality has hit the shitter. Granted I've never owned this brand but my cheapo ebay ones looked from a quality standpoint. This is just absurd. I emailed AVS with no responce yet. I heard there customer service also has gone down hill. They feel cheap, flimsy. The cut from the factory is so poor it's unreal. Jagged edges everywhere, olg glue blotches in spots, dings and small scratches brand new out of the package. I don't even feel like a refund is acceptable at this point.

Hard to tell from the photos, but did you remove the clear protective plastic film from the outside part of the visors?

Amazon reviews have gotten worse as of late. Most complaints mirror mine.
This gives a clearer picture of exactly how mine arrived. I didn't really notice it until after I installed them.

This is what I purchased.
I purchased the first link you sent.
I can see the uneven edges. What I couldn’t see is if the plastic film was removed, hence my question. Why did you install them if the quality was not to your liking?
Honestly at first glance everything looked fine. It didn't occur to me to give them a thorough look-at since their reputation has always been good. I assumed (I should never assume) they were all build/cut the same in the factory.
I wrote AVS a kindly worded letter expressing my dissapointment. With any luck I'll hear back.
