I've had the AVS stick on versions since last September, so far so good, haven't come off and haven't had any issues, just make sure to wipe down the surface with rubbing alcohol for maximum stick. Dunno if there as low profile as the ones you have but they only stick out maybe 2" max and minimal noise.

The uses for mine are being able to cool the 2 hunting dogs we have in the rainy NW winters after training (they fog up all the windows) while we run errands as well as keep mitigate some of the heat in the summer without prying hands or eyes (though 10% rear tint also helps with that, thank you lax WA tint laws).

I have "Wade" in channel vent visors. No clicking sounds.
When I first installed them, they were setting of the sensor when rolling windows up, and they would roll back down. But now, no issues. I have them for almost 3 years. Good quality visors

They were my first add-on a year and a half ago, work great. Not fond of in channel versions due to tight window/gasket clearance...........hate clicking noise when rolling up windows.

One trick for in channel, back trim bottom edge of visor (bout 45 degrees) to help "guide" window past bottom edge to reduce clicking noise.

Forgive my ignorance, but what are those things for?

Google search turns up keeping rain out, but I would think AC or heat with the windows up would be better when raining.

90% of the vent visor owners I see are smokers.

As most of you know I am not one to ask many questions of this type but when I need something I do not hesitate to ask.

We are not smokers but use them for defogging the windows. Where I live the temp drops a lot when it rains and we get a lot of inside fogging.

On my '11 SR5 I used the Original AVS Ventshades. When I got the '12 TE I bought the Weathertech in channel type. I liked the lower profile but the in channel fit was sloppy and every time the windows rolled up I got a "click" when the window edge cam in contact with the in channel deflector. The fit was so sloppy I had one blow out somewhere in the Midwest over Labor Day weekend.

I thought about ordering the Vent Visor low profile stick on type but there were no reviews and nobody here seems to run them, so I went ahead and ordered the Vent Visor Originals like I had on the SR5. They did fine for 66K miles and I expect they will be fine again.

Can anybody chime in on these taking off-road abuse from small branches and limbs whacking them? I want to consider getting a set to help vent the 4Runner when I sleep in the back, but worried they might get busted up if a branch smacks it on a trail.

I have run the low profile avs stick on visors on my sti, and my Tundra. They are very sleek, and I have had no issues. They don't allow as much air flow as a traditional vent visor, but they still work well. I am still undecided on which visors I may want on the 4runner, if any. Thanks for everyone's feedback on the weathertechs, save me some money!

To OP: I have the in channel visors from WT and my rear did blow off on the hwy but since I've double sided sticky tape the rear for more rigidity, no problems since. Just an option for a solution. But you did say it's somewhere over MO right now

Just keep an eye on the stick on type, lots of times the tape starts to let go then you get a flapper in the wind...

I had a pair of stick on style on my 99 T4R for about 11 years, they never came off, never cracked, never chipped or nothing. Carwashes and everything they stuck like glue.

Sadly it was Glue...after 11 years I thought I would have my T4R detailed. Bad thing was when I took it to be detailed the guy asked if I wanted them cleaned, I said sure, so he tried to take them off and the paint on all 4 doors was trashed. So from now on it's in channel vent visors for me..even if I do loose a couple they are cheaper than repainting the doors.
