Verzion double data

for those that are running more everything plans and have 16gb + plans currently, Verizon is offering a promo for October only to double your data for the same price.

ie:

16gb ==> 30gb for $130

20gb ==> 40gb for $150

for those on 12gb plans you get a slight bump to 15gb for the same price.

for those that may be interested.

Wish they'd just bring back unlimited data...

Either that, or start billing by the mb, similar to how electricity is billed. I'm sick of this scam of buying a bucket of data that's a "use it or lose it" proposition, with the threat of what is essentially a fine for exceeding the limit of the bucket you've selected.

It's stupid. You go over and they charge you $15 per GB, BUT if you change your plan to add 2 more GB just before going over, they'll give it to you for $10. Yet if you use only half, you get stuck with the same bill. It's a crooked game if you ask me. This is the only thing I really dislike about Verizon (and really, the entire cell industry does it). Other than that I've had (have) no issues with them.

To the OP: Thanks for the heads up, even though I don't have plans at levels that would benefit from their promotion.

I had unlimited data on 2 lines, but after about 2gb of data usage, I noticed a distinct slow down even though they say they are not throttling. after I moved to more everything and edge, I don't have slow downs anymore.

wink wink

Hmmm, never had that problem. I was a 5-10gb/month user on an unlimited plan with no slow downs. Perhaps it was because I was on a corporate account.

i'm steady using 400-500gb a month with verizon... though i do still have a grandfathered unlimited account. only downside is paying full price to upgrade phones which isn't a big deal for me. if i went into their tiered plans i'd be getting reamed on overages

400-500GB! What the heck are you doing?

tethering. since i live in a horrible black hole of an area in nc i get no internet worth having. however there is a 4g antenna about 1 click away which gives me around 50meg down and 30 up. i use it for pc gaming, downloading movies/music etc... and its free. like i said, verizon hates me.

by horrible internet in my area i mean: dsl=.5 of a meg down, no cable even though i live off of 401 and am less than 200m from it, no other option that isn't tier'd such as satelite (dishnet) or verizon which i tried and burned though my allotment in a day. being that i work in IT i have to have a decent speed, 5meg would be acceptable but nothing reliable here.

yes. i do private side work for several people and have ran into these and while they aren't limited they do throttle your connection and can't work with that. i did upgrade (at full price) to the Note 4 yesterday and PDANet+ is tested working on that device so i think i will stay for a while longer.
