Sorry it didn't work out for you, I think you might actually be disappointed with them in the fogs as well unless you are just looking for raw omnidirectional light output?
Granted I've never used a set of these LEDs yet, but it's probably going to suck for similar reasons as swapping HID capsules into halogen reflector housings...the key to having a proper output pattern is mimicking the halogen's filament as close as possible (since that's what the reflector is designed to reflect).
Below you see a halogen filament vs an HID arc:
You see how similar these are in nature, yet reflectors already have trouble controlling the stray light from the HID arc and outputting a nice clean light pattern...now imagine throwing in two flat LED that only fires unidirectional light up and down? You're missing 180 degrees of coverage which would explain why you noticed dead spots.
IMO, LED technology is just not there yet for a suitable drop in/plug-n-play halogen replacement, and I'm not sure if there will ever be, kind of apples and oranges in the lighting world here.
It's really tough to go based on customer reviews for these kind of things, since not everyone is as particular as you and I, or [MENTION=51186]philsey[/MENTION], LOL. Some people would be 100% happy with these just like how others out there drop in 10000k HID bulbs into reflector housings and will rant and rave about how much "better" they are than halogen bulbs. Sucks you had to take the plunge but thanks for posting unbiased reviews
VLED's return policy is pretty good...have you thought about possibly returning them for a refund?
