I cant really answer that yet, its been overcast and constant 68/70 the last two days. I drove about 140 miles today visiting the moms, but it was all highway driving. Didnt notice any lag after the long drive.

I agree with Bala de Plata.
The Volant as a whole, is great! I can feel the difference in acceleration and the sound is awesome. Even the exhaust seems to sound better!
I posted the install problems to help other members, not to bad mouth the system. Most aftermarket setup don't install perfectly. One of the reason why; It's because of prodution changes from year to year and sometimes even mid-year. There are almost always going to be slight fitting/install problems. All the problems "the early Volant installers" mentioned are not major problems and can be fixed/adapted very easily.
One of these type of problem is MAF sensor. Mine has a metal cap (says Hitachi) and the other years (at least the '05 and '06) have a smaller MAF unit and is made of plastic. My MAF has the round seal w/ o-ring like the smaller unit, plus a protrusion right next to it. I just installed on the air duct without a good seal temporarily. I'll have to cut the shape of the protrusion on the air duct housing to make it sit flush. Once again, a simple process.
All in all, I definitely recommend the intake system.

Seems like everyone is saying the issues are minor and can be solved easily. Maybe I will purchase one on the next paycheck after all.
I wonder would cutting a 1/2 or even less off the tube at the throttle body help clear the fans more and not affect overall fitment??
Lastly, Has anyone tried calling Volant direct and see about replacement pieces like the too short seal?? Or even to voice the minor complaints that you have???

man, I get off the site for 3 days and everyone goes crazy writing about this CAI. It took me 20 min to read everything thats been written. I live out here in Georgia so mine wont get here till tommorrow (tuesday). I hope mine comes in perfect but Im preparing to for the worst. Ive got my tools in my hands watching speed channel just waiting to play with my engine tommorrow....

btw I just talked to Volant and they will send me a new strip today.
Also, keep in mind that there are 2 different kits for the V8. One is for '03~'04 (kit# 18947) and the other for '05~'06 (kit# 18747).
I guess there are slight differences in MAF and intake tube.

I understand from all the previous posts that people have having multiple minor issues when installing the intake.
I at first wanted to purchase this unit as it sounded like it provided the best "bang for the buck"... but after reading all these posts, I feel quite the opposite. Couple of questions that go through my head...
Why would I purchase something knowing full well that I'm going to have problems installing it?
who buys a performance part knowing full well that things don't fit?
For the people that own it and keep saying that it's worth it abiet the issues/problems at hand... are you trying to justify your purchase?
If there are multiple issues with this system, it just adds up to one big issue... and that being Volant has not put enough craftmanship into producing this unit. I admire those people giving the units a try... but if I found out that there are that many issues with it.. I wouldn't be recommending this unit to anyone until Volant fixes it.

I understand. But let me tell you, the *minor* issues that have arisen still wouldn't keep me from buying this product even if I hadn't purchased it yet. I just want one that bad. Its cost vs. benefit, and I see the benefit as alot larger than the costs, but I realize that is different for everyone.iFORCE said:

I guess if this thing was such a failure, then I would say not to buy it. How would I benefit by making you buy something that's junk? I don't think that's justifying for my purchase.
It's your decision what you want to do with your money, but a certain amount of trust between members should be given, I think. Isn't this what this forum is about?

There is volant kit for 2003-04 and a kit for 2005-06:
DDD269 has a 2004
Bala de Plata has a 2005
Mole177 has a 2006
The question I have for all 3 is do you have similar minor issues? Based on what I have read Bala de Plata (2005) has the least minor issues.

03-04's are the same, 05-06's are not. The only change is the MAF sizes are different in the tube. Some were missing the vacuum hose and strip, these has been correct for all future orders by Volant.
