vsc disconnect switch

Its easy to disconnect , but wondered what each wire controls.

If you dont mind cutting the wires (you would need to in order to wire a switch anyways) you could cut each one, one at a a time. That way if you only have one cut and it only shows the ABS light on the dash than that one is ABS... and do the same until you see which one is VSC, and which one is TRAC. (I believe those are the 3 lights that come on the dash when disconnected)
You can always solder the wires back together when you are done too.

heres the wiring diagram for an 06 4runner...its to the abs, atrac, vsc and all that good stuff. maybe that will help a little

Was very busy today, so I wasn't able to get to it, maybe tomorrow. When I do I also plan on finding which one is VSC, which one is ATRAC, and which one is ABS. I will probably get a cheapo switch until I can get an FJ/Tacoma ATRAC, VSC switch. Has anyone ever looked at where the wires for ATRAC/VSC are connected on the FJ/Tacoma? You can probably mimic it like that too.

That is what I was thinking would work , the Atrac is a damn nice feature , not sure if I would want tom disable that since it provides the next best ting available to a lockers or / LS diff. in both front and rear axles.

The VSC would be the one I would want to disable ONLY , the Atrac ( maybe ) the ABS ( absolutely NOT )

I was thinking that splicing into the correct wire , running it to a switch ( factory ) in the dash should let you disable or enable at will.

BStevo is the only other runner I've found with the same setup as mine and I'm DYING to get this done!! Every other article I've found is a similar yet different enough not do risk doing.

I believe the whole system is inter-connected. Which means, if you cut one wire, the whole system (ABS, TRAC, VSC) will shut down. On my 2002 (3rd Gen), I put in the switch using instructions from this thread. You do have to restart in order for the system to work again, but it is a worthwhile mod.

Also, the wire colors seem to be consistent with the earlier 4th Gens with 3 wires. Red, Black and White wires. The red was the ground on my system. I'm pretty sure that it is consistent with the 4th Gens, but might want to make sure.

However, I do wish that I could only turn off VSC and turn it back on without restart. Wonder if we can trick the computer into thinking the CDL was engaged, thus disabling VSC?

I think there may be a way to do it. The link below is for a Tacoma, but I found I have the exact same module under the glove box (model number is different but visually, it is the same), but the wires are different color. I think they were accomplishing it by sending ground to one wire which tricks it into thinking the the diff lock is on which is turning off the VSC. I would love to use his mod's but there isn't enough detail on how the wires test in order to apply it to the 4Runner. Anyone tried anything similar??

I'm sure someone on here with good wiring diagrams must be able to figure out how to do this mod and have it work. It would be a dream come true to turn off VSC and a-trac. Seperately of course, with the flip of a switch when desired.
