VSC disengage by switch

look at it as motivation to go rip your ECU apart and figure this out! take Kmvreter with you...he seems to know about this stuff.. :D

It's cold enough here, why would I want to go to WI this time of year!

Seriously, you can either do the hack (switch/plug) or figure out how to trick the ECU. I don't want to fry (read $$$) something either way. VSC works and is on the vehicle for a reason. I can see the logic of being able to override it but I don't want my truck to burn either. When it's warmer out...

this switch yall are talking about...i didnt read all 3 pages, but does disabling the VSC with that plug also disable the A-TRAC? i have a 04 v8 and we recently put michelin ltx ms tires on it, and it can barely get them to whistle on a corner before atrac kicks in. i dont think it COULD cut a donut unless on really slick asphalt...

Great post i was wondering about this, i have never been a fan of newer cars with their computer driven everything. My last car was a 95 m3 and i loved the thing, no TC just a strong engine and some minor indicator lights, i learned the car and my limits and had my fun, nowadays your wheel chirps with TC on and the car wants to friggin shut down, if you know your car and you know how to drive you should have the option to order a car without it and be responsible enough to admit whether or not you are capable of handling the car without TC. Looking forward to see someone figure out the switch mod :)

Well figuring out this switch isnt hard... the FJ guy did it, and its the exact same mod. I'm just hesitant to cut a wire and add a switch that would always be on to a crucial part of the electrical system. plus... i dont really know whether or not i want to drill into my dash to add an after market switch either.

I can possibly see the reason for this mod. But why go through the hassel when all you have to do is put it in 4LOW and all wheels will spin. Granted, you don't get to fly around corners...

What does 4lo have to do with it ?

You should not have to drill a hole , just get one of the factory switches in put one in one of the slots. It would look factory.

Falls,

When you engage 4lo it disables VSC and you're able to power spin out of anything. This has been discussed here before.
LOL, a "power spin" is probably not the preferred technique for most technical off-road obstacles! :biggrin2: Locking the center diff disengages the ATRAC correct?

I dont know h;ow to wire up a factory switch... do i need a harness or something? And are you talking about an actual toggle or the button, like the Differential lock or DAC? I would really like to do it... as long as it looked stock.

Incorrect ! Locking the center diff. disengages the VSC , be it in 4hi or 4lo. Read your manual this has been discussed here before.

Falls,

I stand corrected. It's been awhile forgive me. When locking the center diff VSC is off. When in 4lo Atrac is still working until you mash on the gas. Some folks say it is disabled once you hit the gas but my thoughts are you're just powering over the system. If you're in deep snow or muddy situation you'll be able to tell. Hit the gas and watch the mudd and snow fly. :bigok:
