I just replied to your switch question in the other thread. If you don't want to cut the factory wiring you could pop the pin out of the harness and do it that way. I spent weeks researching a lot of info and it has been a while so I can't remember everything I have read.

yeh, I saw that too.
I think id like to try to just get the pair of connectors, see if I can make that work.
I wonder/if where I can get them new?

Thank you for the awesome write-up. Instead of starting a new thread, I have a few questions I'll ask here:
1.) Has anyone confirmed that this modification is identical in 06-07 2WD 4Runner (I guess 08-09 already have factory trac control button)?
2.) What are guys using these days for the "TRAC OFF" button that fits the stock cutout under the steering wheel?
3.) One thing I don't like about this mod is that it sounds like you have to turn the car off and on to get the traction control back on after its been turned off. Any solution to this so you can just turn the traction control on and off with the button (i.e. without having to turn the car on and off).

Have you tried this mod yet? I have an 06 v6 2WD that I would like to make a switch to disable VSC.

Not yet, but I assume it will work since you just have to break the connection running to the master cylinder.
Thanks, but I already went ahead and did the mod this morning. Switched the white master cylinder wire through the grommet firewall into the dashboard by fitting a $5 switch I bought at pep boys into dummy aux button in the dash (cut hole in the dummy button).
Turn off engine, flip switch, turn on engine, VSC off and car squiggly lines (trac) lights come on. Took out the car into a an empty abandoned gravel parking lot. Had a lot of fun doing some small dust donuts without any trac/vsc interruptions. Who said 2WD couldn't be fun?
2006 4Runner SR5 2WD for VSC mod confirmed.
I may post pictures this weekend.

Pictures of what needs to be done:
This is a picture of the wire and on which connector on the master brake cylinder that needs to be cut and switch installed:
You can test this before you cut by disconnecting this plug and starting your truck, you should have these lights on if correct: VSC TRAC, TRAC OFF, ABS
This is a picture showing the location of the Skid Control under the driver side dash behind the fuse block just left of the brake pedal mount bracket. I did my mod here because I didn't want to run another set of wires thru the firewall.
Simply cut the wire and attach 2 leads to your switch and done. This is a picture showing after splicing the 2 leads and connector reattached to Skid Control.
Finally a picture of the the location and switch I used.

Hey, looking at possibly doing this mod, but the pictures are no longer showing up. Anyway we can get them back?
Lots of details on this switch install, but words alone aren't quite enough for me to feel I'm ready to get it done. And I can't seem to find other treads with pictures of the install from under the dash. Only pictures of the mod with the wire ran through to the engine bay.

I just did this mod but I didn't have to go through the firewall. I tapped into one of the wires in the 4x4 controller under the glove box and I ran that tapped wire onto a switch from CH4x4. Looks OEM and very simple. I have a 07 SR5 4x4. I tested it last night and it works great!

I'm finally trying to do this mod. Had a switch for a few years now.
I went to get the Skid ECU wire tapped and I can not find it for the life of me!
From my understanding it sound be on the driver side, just to the left of the parking brake paddle.
My 4Runner has nothing in that spot, and I looked around and found nothing that looked like the Skid ECU box.
I've got a 2005 Sport Edition 2wd, v6. It has a factory Auto LSD button and that's it.
Did the Skid ECU get relocated on the '05s? or do not all the models have it?
