Warranty visit at 300 miles? A/C question.

So I went through the manual and it appears that something is awry with my new TEP. Not that it's a major issue but at some point I'd like it fixed it this function is actually malfunctioning.

The A/C is supposed to turn off when I hit the A/C button on the knob that controls air flow right (smack dab in the middle of the center stack)? It stays illuminated (amber light) on mine and the A/C will not turn off. The only way I can seem to get it off is to turn the fan knob to 'off'. It's not an issue now since it's still hot out but during the winter I don't normally run heat just vent so this won't do once fall gets here.

Just making sure I'm not having a special moment. I tried both long and short presses on the switch and she stays lit regardless.

Do you have the "TEMP" dial set to "MAX A/C"? That will force the A/C to stay on. If you don't want the A/C, turn the TEMP knob up a click.

Also sometimes the windshield defogger function uses the A/C as a dehumidifier although I can't remember if the light comes on or not.

I can double check but I thought the fan speed was set to the 2nd or 3rd setting on the dial. The center knob was set to 1/2 floor and 1/2 upper vent.

I'm not talking about the fan speed knob on the left, I'm talking about the "TEMP" knob on the right. The coldest setting is "MAX A/C".

If you have the right knob, the temperature control knob, turned all the way to the left to "max ac" it will turn on the recirculation function. That button will light up amber and is to the left of the fan speed knob. In this condition you cannot turn off the air conditioner unless you turn off the fan. If you nudge the temperature control knob off the max ac detent then you can turn off the account by depressing the button in center of knob.

If you have the right knob, the temperature control knob, turned all the way to the left to "max ac" it will turn on the recirculation function.

To be more specific, "MAX A/C" will turn on the recirculation function only if the airflow mode (center knob) is not set to a defogging function. Defogging mode and recirculation are mutually incompatible. Similarly if you switch the airflow mode to defogging it will automatically turn off recirculation mode (if it was on).

Sorry, took an off day and decided the dogs needed baths before the day starts. I'll step out and check if it is set on max shortly. I suspect that it is as that is normally where I keep the A/C set during the hot months only changing fan speed and direction when needed.

You are probably right...again! :dancin:

If so I will feel stupid but I've just never had a vehicle where this was how it operated. I could always turn it off despite whatever it may have been set to.

as others mentioned, dial it back one click from the coldest setting on the temp control.

In a similar vein, one thing that always bugs me is that's its near impossible to have air not flow through the vents.

I am not sure if turning it on recirc only will fully stop the vents from blowing, but with the system fan speed fully down, I still get either cold or warm (depending on the temp dial) slowly coming through the vents.

So you guys are right. I had the knob all the way to max. Once I ticked it over one notch the A/C permitted me to switch it off..

I'm really bad about bringing sh** in for warranty work.. A/C and wobbles happen to be the only two things that will get me in.

So I am waiting to get my paint protection film installed so she has only been on the interstate once and for maybe 5 miles. At that time I did notice something at around 75 but it was not in the wheel, but more in the seat. Once I get the film on I will take her out on the interstate to investigate so I'm not really sure...yet.

Did you have wobbles with your T4R?
